Rinehart Clinic awarded $291,000 grant to help expand treatment for opioid use disorder

Rinehart Clinic has received $291,000 in grant funding to help expand access to treatment for substance use disorder. The funding is part of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Health Resources and Services Administration’s (HRSA) $352 million investment in community health centers across the country to combat the opioid crisis.

For some time, the Rinehart Clinic has been providing treatment to those patients with substance use disorder. We have developed a strong foundation for addiction treatment within a primary care setting. This grant will allow us to increase the number of patients served and expand to more fully incorporate mental health services and primary care alongside substance use disorder treatment.

The treatment program calls for a broader, more holistic approach, with the help of Rinehart Clinic’s Doctor of Naturopathic Medicine and a support team dedicated to helping patients navigate the challenges of recovery. One of the most critical pieces of the plan is to expand access to mental health services, since mental health conditions (PTSD, Depression, Anxiety, for example) are often co-occurring with substance use disorders.

We are one of 1,232 community health centers across the nation chosen to receive this grant funding. The Rinehart Clinic is proud that HRSA has put its faith in us to expand the important work we have been doing in Tillamook County.

More information on the grants awarded nationwide is available on the HRSA website.

Board urges voters to oppose Measure 105

Rinehart Clinic’s Board of Directors voted unanimously at its last meeting to issue a public statement opposing Oregon Measure 105, which would repeal Oregon’s sanctuary state status.

Oregon’s sanctuary law (Oregon Revised Statute 181A.820) was approved in 1987 in response to racial profiling of immigrants. The law prohibits the use of state and local resources to enforce federal immigration law if a person’s only crime is being in the country illegally.

As a federally qualified health center, Rinehart Clinic has worked diligently to cultivate an environment that provides safe access to comprehensive health-care for everyone. Passage of Oregon Measure 105 could put many of our community members in jeopardy.

We strongly urge all Oregonians to vote NO on Oregon Measure 105 on November 6, 2018. More information on the measure is available at orunited.org.

October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month

Intimate partner violence impacts personal and community health

October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month so it is a good time to shed light on intimate partner violence. At Rinehart Clinic we know that people’s relationships can affect their health–not just because of the immediate health impacts of abuse, but also because of its links to other serious health conditions.

This is why we have partnered with the Tillamook County Women’s Resource Center to have an advocate available at Rinehart Clinic who can help people navigate the dynamics of relationships. A Spanish-speaking advocate is also available as needed.

To make an appointment with an advocate, or to talk to someone right away, please call the Women’s Resource Center’s safe and confidential 24 hour helpline: 503-842-9486 or 800-992-1679

Tillamook County Women’s Resource Center is a nonprofit whose mission is to end domestic and sexual violence in our community. For more information, visit www.tcwrc.net
