Get Out the Vote
What can you do?

The General Election is on Tuesday, November 6th.

Thus said the Eternal One, the God of Israel, to the whole community that I exiled from Jerusalem to Babylon… “Seek the welfare of the city to which I have exiled you and pray to the Eternal on its behalf; for in its prosperity you shall prosper.” – Jeremiah 29:4-7

Your Jewish community (Jewish Community Relations Council of the Milwaukee Jewish Federation, National Council of Jewish Women, and Tikkun Ha-Ir of Milwaukee) are coming together to support Souls to the Polls, a faith-oriented effort to increase voter participation in Milwaukee.
Help increase voter participation and civic engagement in the upcoming midterm elections. Face-to-face contact is the most effective tool in getting people to vote.
  • Sunday, Oct. 14, 2-4pm (led by Congregation Emanu-El B’ne Jeshurun – Contact Reenie Kavalar, rkavalar@gmail.com)
  • Sunday, Nov 4, 12-2pm (led by Tikkun Ha-Ir- Contact Sami Stein Avner, sami@thi-milwaukee.org)

  • Support canvassers – If you cannot canvass, consider donating funds to hire a trained canvasser. A donation of $200 to Souls to the Polls (c/o Pastors United) will support a trained canvasser to work for a week.

  • Work the polls. The City of Milwaukee is looking for Elections Inspectors (Poll Workers)
The City of Milwaukee Election Commission is looking for dependable people residing in Milwaukee County, to help as Election Inspectors at voting sites throughout the City for the General Election on November 6, 2018. Election work is non-partisan and provides a great way to more fully participate in the democratic process. Election Inspectors check-in registered voters, provide them with a ballot, register qualified individuals to vote who are new voters or who have name or address changes. These positions are paid ($130/full Election Day). You must attend one training which is also paid ($25). Fluent bilingual (English/ Spanish or English/Hmong) individuals are especially encouraged to apply. For an application and more information, visit https://city.milwaukee.gov/Helpmilwaukeevote#.W5Z9r-hKjIU or contact the Election Commission at electionworker@milwaukee.gov or 414-286-3491.
