Board to Consider Water Rates & Fees

The Zone 7 Board of Directors will be considering various proposed rates and fees at its October 17 Board meeting, including treated water rates for Calendar Year (CY) 2019 – 2022, untreated water rates for CY 2019, and municipal and industrial water connection fees for CY 2019.

The public is welcome to attend the meeting to provide comments on the proposed water rates. The meeting will be held at 7:00 p.m. at the Zone 7 administration office at 100 North Canyons Parkway in Livermore. Board president Angela Ramirez Holmes also encourages the public to email the board with any questions at BoardofDirectors@zone7water.com.

The Board will consider approval of the Treated Water Rates for CY 2019 through 2022.  The scenarios before the board will result on an average household paying an additional $1.95 per month in CY 2019 to $2.31 per month in CY 2022.

Zone 7 is committed to providing a reliable supply of high-quality water in a fiscally responsible way. More information on the public presentation is provided here: http://www.zone7water.com/images/pdf_docs/water_rates/tri-valley_water_presentation_8-29-18.pdf

Del Valle Water Treatment Plant Ozonation Project Construction Progress

As of September 30, 2018, the Del Valle Water Treatment Plant Ozonation Project construction is approximately 15% complete and on schedule to be completed by early 2020.

The Del Valle Water Treatment Plant Ozonation Project will add raw water ozonation to the existing treatment process at the plant. The ozonation facilities are a major upgrade to Zone 7’s water treatment facilities and will allow Zone 7 to successfully eliminate taste and odor issues that have become a recurring problem in warm summer months due to algal blooms in source water supplies. The new ozonation facilities will also help to protect public health by addressing increasing concerns about the detection of cyanotoxins in Lake Del Valle. In addition to improving water quality, the project will also improve production reliability at the plant.

The ozone contactor structure floor slab is complete, and forms are set for the first of several concrete wall pours. The ozone contactor is where the ozone will be applied to incoming water.

Forms for the chlorine contact pipeline vault are being set, and the subgrade is ready for rebar placement. Construction of the 72-inch diameter chlorine contact pipeline is in progress, with 120 feet of the 580 feet length already completed as of October 1, 2018.

Reminder:

Adjust Outdoor Irrigation Settings for Fall Weather!

Temperatures are cooling and rain is in the forecast - it’s time to check your automatic outdoor irrigation systems and scale back your watering schedules. You can check the moisture level in your soil by simply digging around with a screwdriver – if the dirt sticks together, you probably don’t need to water. If the dirt dry and crumbly, your plants may need a drink. As always, turn off all irrigation systems when it’s raining!
