Post-Grad Community Project Fund now open
Autumn Term Deadline: 7 November
Awards of up to £300 are available for UAL postgraduate students (both taught and research) to organise academic events, projects and cultural interventions that bring together postgraduate students from different disciplines, courses and colleges.
Proposals are sought in response to the following themes:
Fashion Week SS19: A Chuckle of Understated Glamour by Aditya Vij, MA Fashion Journalism at LCF
"This spring 2019 season, we saw a lot of understated glamour mixed with outrageous prints. Many shows stood out in terms of bringing newness such as Ricardo’s Burberry and Pierpaolo’s Valentino. In terms of cities, Paris, as always, brought the right amount of chicness blended with a hint of boldness, whereas London was a breath of fresh air, bringing in all the NewGen talent. ..."

The fund supports education projects designed to make a difference to the quality of students’ learning and/or employability, and to increase attainment.
Applicants can bid for funding of £1,500 or £3,000 to cover the expense of projects that will run from January to December 2019.
NOT out of sight, NOT out of mind MoKs, Estonia Deadline: 15 November 2018
A creative information campaign that aims to increase public awareness of consumer material waste issues and resource efficiency in today’s society.
Taking the form of a traveling exhibition, 14 selected artworks/projects will be displayed in high visibility public locations (mostly outdoor) across northern Latvia and southern Estonia.
Open to all creative disciplines including visual/sound artists, sculptors, photographers, designers and architects.
Refresh Art Award £10 entry fee Deadline: 5 April 2019
A fresh new art competition giving representation to everyone who enters, culminating in a showcase of the favourite 24 entries in June 2019 at the 5th Base Gallery in London.
Every artist who enters will be showcased in their online gallery for the month of the show and beyond.

Portobello Wall Public Art Project

Join Anastasia Russa (MFA Wimbledon) to celebrate the opening of the annual public art commission by the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea.
Her mural is a celebration of the past that shapes our present. Depicting characters and events that have left their mark – from the recent horror of Grenfell, to ghostly buses, escaped monkeys and a cast of local characters.

Speakers include: Simon Wilson, art historian and former Curator of Interpretation at Tate; Grant Gibson, journalist and former editor of ‘Crafts’ (2007-2018), the world's leading magazine devoted to making; Amy Jayne Hughes, ceramic artist and specialist ceramics technician at Chelsea College of Arts; and Cherie Silver, Programme Curator at Chelsea Space, and curator of the current exhibition.
Beginning with an introduction by Daisy McMullan (Gallery Coordinator), exhibiting artist Martin Williams (alumni of MA Designer Maker, Camberwell) will talk about his contribution to the show and his wider career, followed by time for questions, refreshments and further viewing of the exhibition.

A reading group focusing on the African-Caribbean, Asian & African Art in Britain Archive, part of the Special Collections at Chelsea College of Arts Library.

Postgraduate Community Project FundUAL has made available some funds to assist postgraduate students in organising academic events, projects and cultural interventions; which work to bring together different disciplines within both Postgraduate Taught and Research student bodies at UAL.
Through the Postgraduate Community - Project Fund, students are invited to work collaboratively with students from different colleges and disciplines, on projects which sit under one of the four research themes.
Arts SU: The Student Initiative Fund Arts Students' Union enables students to create their own university experience through The Student Initiative Fund. Using this small supply of money and their in-house expertise, they help students organise all kinds of original and creative events. You can apply for between £10 and £200 to support a project or event, providing you meet their collaborative criteria. READ MORE
The Alternative Guide to Postgraduate Funding 2017-2018The Alternative Guide to Postgraduate Funding provides advice and information about applying for alternative sources of funding, particularly from charities and trusts.
The Guide was written by two postgraduate students who between them have won over £45,000 from 55 different charity awards. It contains model personal and financial statements, and over 500 links to voluntary sector funding sources. READ MORE
