October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month

Halloween is pretty scary, but there's not a lot scarier than the risk of cancer. More than 252,710 people will be diagnosed with breast cancer in 2018. There are different symptoms of breast cancer, and some people have no symptoms at all.

Encourage your staff to promote breast cancer awareness in social media and parent communications, and invite survivors and their families to tell their stories with comments and shares.

Dental Hygiene Month

Halloween’s candy rush is a great time to spread awareness for oral health, in both children and adults. As we get older, dental care for adults is crucial.

Because teeth alone account for less than half of the mouth, rinsing can help eliminate biofilm and bacteria that brushing and flossing cannot.

Rinsing often, along with brushing and flossing, may help reduce the chance of dental decay and infection. However, avoid rinses that have alcohol in them.

Chiropractic Health Month

Back pain remains one of the most prevalent and disabling conditions worldwide. It is one of the most common reasons that patients visit their doctors, and one of the most common conditions for which opioid pain medications are prescribed.

As we age, the health of our bones, muscles and joints -- also known as our musculoskeletal system -- is especially important in reducing the frequency and severity of back pain as well as preventing falls and other injuries that can lead to disability and limit our ability to engage in daily activities. For these reasons, it’s essential to move now, to move later, to move for life, and to stay healthy, strong, active and engaged.
