Come, ye thankful people, come!
This weekend we give thanks for the gifts of God in creation as we celebrate Harvest Thanksgiving. We rejoice that God 'crowns the year with his goodness', and gives us the Bread of Heaven in the Holy Eucharist.
We've got a full programme for the weekend and we'd love to see you and yours for our Harvest celebrations. Work is underway at the moment to decorate St Mary's (click here to see some photos for a sneak preview!). This year the Harvest decorations highlight the many aspects of farming, agriculture and food production which take place in our own parish and community.
Please come and join us on Sunday for the great Harvest Eucharist at 10am in St Mary's. There will also be a quieter Eucharist at 8am, and Evensong at 6.30pm. Raise the song of Harvest home!

Tomorrow, after Coffee & Chat in the Church Hall (10am to 11.30am), bring your pets for the St Francistide Blessing of Animals in St Mary's at 11.30am - a short, informal service to give thanks for pets and animals and their role in our lives. Hot chocolate and gingerbread will be served afterwards.

For the centenary of the Armistice this November, we're going to have an art installation in St Mary's: origami doves of peace. We'll have 104 red doves to represent the Attleborough men who died in WWI, and 458 white doves to represent others who served. Come and help us create the doves for this powerful memorial display - we'll be working on them tomorrow afternoon from 2pm to 4pm in St Mary's Hall (with coffee & cake). Come for as little or as long as you like!

A week on Sunday (14 October) is the first day of Prisons Week, and we’ll be welcoming Fr James Ridge, the new Chaplain-General of HM Prison Service in England & Wales, as our guest preacher at the 10am Parish Eucharist. As our prisons have been much in the news lately, this is a timely opportunity to pray for and learn more about the needs of prisoners and their families, victims of crime, prisons staff and all those who care, and to wish Fr James well in this new and demanding ministry. Children and young people are a valued part of our Church Family. Since the new term began we've already had lots of good times together!
Drop-in & Play on Thursday mornings has got off to a great start. Yesterday there were over 40 people of all ages. Click here to see some photos from the first session.
Messy Church met two weeks ago to explore the story of the infant Moses. Click here to see some pictures. The next Messy Church is on Saturday 17 November at 9.30am.
Friday Fun Club for children in Year 3 and over met two weeks ago. They enjoyed baking chocolate brownies, cooked sausages and macaroni for their supper, made lego fish models and learned about the work of Oxfam. Click here to see some photos. The next Friday Fun Club session is on Wednesday (yes, for one month only!) 17 October from 4.30pm.
