BOOK SWAP
Thank you for cleaning out your book shelves and donating 1,500 books to our book swap!  The kids had such a great time shopping for new books and were already asking when we could do it again.  Hopefully they got some good reading material for our Read-A-Thon!

Thank you to Lorrie McDonough, April de Haan, and Kathy Shields for your help counting books, sorting them, and setting up the room.  Another huge thank you to Cynthia Knight and Lisa Fiore for helping the students shop during the actual swap.

OPEN COMMITTEE CHAIR POSITIONS

We have a few open committee head positions that were are looking to fill.  You don't have to do it alone!  You can co-chair with a friend if you would like.  We have all the info to help you!

Mom/Son Night: This event usually takes place a the beginning of May.  You can choose the event that you want to plan.  In recent previous years we have had a laser tag company come and set up a battleground in the gym and we have also held a bowling night at Wheaton Bowl.  The time commitment in planning depends on what event you choose to plan.

Fun Fair Chair: This event takes place in March.  This is one of our biggest fundraising events.  We have multiple people that help out and help plan different aspects of the fair and our past chair lead is willing to help the day of setting and executing everything.  We are looking for someone to be the official chair of the event.

School Supply Kits: The PTO offers the opportunity to pre-order your school supplies for the next year.  The school supply kit chair coordinates with the teachers to get their school supply lists and then works with Carlson's to get the different kits pulled together.  An order from will be sent out to parents in April and then the committee chair will coordinate delivery from Carlson's and a pick up date for the parents.  It is a very small time commitment position in the spring.
CAC MEMBERS NEEDED

For over half a century, community and parent bolunteers that live within Illinois School U-46 boundaries have served as liaisons between their schools, the CAC, and the school district.  We identify our children's needs and bring ideas to the District.  CAC representatives attend monthly meetings and are strongly encouraged to join a committee.

The goal of the CAC is to advise and assist the Board of Education and Administration in the ongoing effort to provide the best possible educational opportunities for the students of School District U-46.

Prairieview needs 4 CAC members to have any voting rights for our school on important topics such as boundary lines.  If you are interested, the time commitment is one meeting a month during the school year.  Please email Mr. Flatley if you would like to volunteer.
SHOPAROO
Download the Shoparoo app today!  Such an easy way to earn money for our school by only snapping pictures of receipts.  We currently have 17 people using it and we already earned $10 for our school in one month.  Imagine what that number could be if more people started using it!  We could get a really nice check at the beginning of next year.  More details can be found on the app!
AMAZON SMILE
Did you know that you can donate money to Prairieview just by doing your normal shopping at Amazon?  If you are a big Amazon shopper please sign up for Amazon Smile.  Once you sign up you shop at www.smile.amazon.com and a portion of most things you purchase will be given back to our school!
POP TOPS
Did you know that we collect Pop Tops for the Ronald McDonald House Charity?  There is a collection box in the foyer across from the door to the office.  Save them and bag them and send them in with your kids.  In year's past we have collected over 60 lbs of pop tops!  Let's give back to the community!
SHUTTERFLY
Do you use Shutterfly or Tiny Prints to order photos or cards?  We have just paired up with them for fundraising.  For all purchases using our Prairieview Storefront as described below, Shutterfly will give us back 13% of all sales!

To order:
  • Go to www.prairieview.shutterflystorefront.com
  • Click on Shop Shutterfly or Shop Tiny Prints
  • You will be sent to your normal sign in screen to complete your purchase.

The great part about this partnership is that you can share the storefront with your friends and family that also order from Shutterfly and all the 13% will benefit our school!
