PRHBTN '18 Invites Columbia/Local Lexington Muralist
We've always thought the world can't have too many bird murals. Thanks to PRHBTN and Spencer Reinhard, it's getting another. The PRHBTN group, the crowd-funded entity responsible for most of Lexington's murals, invited Reinhard as one of only five muralists featured this year. A consumate bird artist, Reinhard plans to bird it up!
Raised in Lexington and now residing in Columbia, Reinhard has returned to help beautify our city by installing an original bird-themed mural on the funky structure pictured below located at roughly 112 E. Vine Street. PRBTHN '18 offically starts October 13th, but Reinhard will be hard at work painting all this week, with his official mural unveiling scheduled for mid-October (date/time TBA here). If you'd like to see him in action, stop by over the next few days. But be advised: he believes in community service so might put you to work!
Lexington artists Spencer Reinhard plans to insert bird-themed mural here.

CKAS Seed Sale: Nov. 3rd (NEW PROCESS!!!)
The next CKAS Seed Sale will take place at Southern States on November 3rd from 7:30am to 1:00pm. Note: the Seed Sale Committee has worked with Southern States management to arrange changes that we hope will make the process of supporting CKAS through the purchase of seed easier on our members and easier on Southern States staff while guaranteeing fresher seed for our feathered friends. Starting this November, CKAS will begin offering $10 (tax included) Member Discount Cards that entitle donors to a 5% discount on any bird seed or bird feeder/house equipment purchased at Southern States on Palumbo Drive YEAR ROUND from November 2018 through November 2019. Gone are the days of "storing" seed. By switching to a buy-as-you-go discount card, Southern States will no longer need to store purchased seed on hand and will therefore be able to provide fresher seed. (Yeah!) Southern States has volunteered to match the 5% discount on all such purchases as a quarterly donation to CKAS. Additionally, on official Sale Days like November 4th, Southern States has offered to extend a 10% discount to card-holding members for seed and supplies purchased that day. So if you purchase $100 worth of seed on Sale Days, you've already paid for your Member Discount Card and every other purchase throughout the year puts you ahead. Plus, you're supporting CKAS's work to help local birds. Volunteers needed from 7:30-10:15 & 10:15-1:00: seedsale@ckas.org.
