ON VIEW AT CROW'S SHADOW OCTOBER 13 - NOVEMBER 16, 2018

Crow’s Shadow is excited to present an invitational group exhibition of works by artists who attend bi-annual monotype printmaking sessions in the studio. Returning highlights a selection of remarkable works made in the Crow’s Shadow studio outside of the artist residencies. These ten printmakers have been coming to the studio for about eight years; initially for more structured workshop retreats organized through the Pacific Northwest College of Art’s Community Education program, and more recently, through renting the studio as an independent collective.

Artists:  Rosemary Cohen, Jennifer Feeney, Anne Haley, Jemila Hart, Pamela Hobert, Fritz Koch, Harriet Riley, Fox Spears, Pat Stevens, and Ahuva Zaslavsky

FINAL AIR OF 2018 NEXT IN STUDIO

Ka’ila Farrell-Smith (Klamath Modoc) is a painter and mixed-media artist based in Modoc Point, Oregon. Her work engages with inter-tribal native communities, reflecting the mixed and sometimes complicated heritage of multi-ethnic and indigenous families living in a post-colonial world. Her paintings and installations are deeply symbolic and frequently abstract, employing dynamic mark-making and textural explorations. Farrell-Smith is one of the directors of the Signal Fire artist residency program, and is a professor of Indigenous Nations Studies at Portland State University. Farrell-Smith has attended artist residencies at Caldera, Djerassi, Ucross, and the Institute of American Indian Arts (IAIA) among others. Farrell-Smith holds a BFA in Painting from the Pacific Northwest College of Art, and an MFA in Contemporary Art Practices Studio from Portland State University. This will be her first residency at Crow’s Shadow.
