Funding Updates

Since its creation as a non-profit in 2017, the Camp Blount Historic Site Association has secured a total of $580,000 in state and federally supported funding for the development of the Camp Blount Historic Site. Governor Haslam has secured legislative funding for the 2018/2019 fiscal year totaling $500,000. The TN Wars Commission awarded $40,000 toward the design and creation of the Volunteer Soldier statue, and the USDA awarded another $40,000 for directional signage for the park entrance.

The City of Fayetteville recently received 1.1 million dollars from the TN Department of Transportation to build a pedestrian bridge over the Elk River connecting Stone Bridge Park to the future Camp Blount Historic Site. Pictured below (left), Mayor Jon Law discusses the vision of Camp Blount with a state official. Initial phases of cultural resource management work was recently completed by Tennessee Valley Archaeological Research (TVAR) of Huntsville, Alabama.
