Hello <<First Name>>

All of a sudden, it feels like the race to the pointy end of the year has begun.

The energy has shifted, plans are being hatched – it’s all happening!

In keeping with this upswing in energy, there are lots of announcements (scroll down for the Melbourne consultations and workshop dates) and new posts on my website. including a very personal one for RUOK Day.

My latest articles are perfectly timed for the return of the warm weather; I delve into the causes of body odour and follow it up with a review of three natural deodorants. This product review is particularly useful if you, like at least a third of Australians, suffer from fragrance sensitivities.

I’m excited to announce not one – but two – upcoming collaborations with my friend and colleague, Charmaine Dennis. We will be teaming up together in Melbourne for a one day workshop in November. This is a taste of the way we work together on retreat, in a single day format with new material that will get you moving, to revitalise you and your business.

We’ve set the date for our next Bali practitioner experience. Please join us 17 – 22 June 2019, for an immersive 6 days/5 nights of workshops, that will totally rock your health business and your life, from the inside out. We are launching retreat applications next Monday (15 October) with a 48 hour flash sale. We may sell out in in these two days so if you or someone you know would like to join us, let us know or keep an eagle eye on my website or social media in the coming days.

With so much going on, it’s important to stay physically and mentally at our best as the social and work demands heat up. What do you do to stay balanced? I’m still meditating and recently began working on my posture and strength, thanks to some awesome women who run a local body positive studio. I like to cook with what’s in season and find using my hands to create healthful food calming. A few months on from my recent trip, I’m still in a bit of a Japanese cooking phase, with soba noodle salads, homemade “nuka” pickles and some super easy vegan gyoza. Give these dumplings a go!

If you’ve not found your mojo, or are struggling with your health or business, it takes a minute to book an appointment online. There are some early evening and Saturday appointments available, for face to face consultations in Sydney, or via Skype elsewhere.

Speaking of in-person consultations, I have a couple of naturopathic or mentoring appointments available in Melbourne (CBD) on Friday 16th November. These times are strictly limited and can’t be booked online. I may have time for new clients as well as ongoing ones, if you get in touch asap.

In good health,
Gill

PS: Am so excited about our new video of our 2018 Rest, revitalise & inspire. It fills my heart with joy, take a look at this beautiful and transformative experience in Bali.

Sweat

Just how sweet do you really smell? What causes body odour, are antiperspirants or deodorants harmful and how you can smell sweeter without them?

In case you missed it

Have you decided whether you're staying in or opting out of the new government My Health Record. There are complex arguments for both sides, made easy in this review. But you only have a month to make up your mind. You'll be surprised at what will really happen to your health information regardless.

The clocks have gone forward to summer time in many parts of the country. But why do you feel awful right now, as if you have seasonal jet lag and what can you do to help it?

Speaking of feeling unwell, do you feel as though you've got a virus you can't shift? Does it keep coming and going, with periods of extreme fatigue? How to tell the difference between a cold and hay fever?

How often has someone asked you how you are, without stopping or looking you in the eye? Such a cursory greeting gives us a message that this is not a serious question and there’s not time or bandwidth for a negative response. Our annual suicide awareness and prevention day is a reminder to genuinely ask the question and how to really listen and respond to the answer. This RUOK Day I paused to remember a much loved friend who is no longer with us.

What's in season in October? I've almost completed my seasonal produce guide across the months. This is the post where it first begun. What are the best fruit and vegetables to eat right now, and what to cook with them.

Missing the Best of the Web? All my curated links can be found on my facebook business page. They're far ranging, but generally related to health. Recently there have been links to articles about: depression and smart phones, body positivity, mindfulness, sugar in children's yoghurts, recipes, and critiquing the health headlines to make sense of the news. Follow my page to stay up to date.

Melbourne consultations: only a few remaining - 16 November.

Recipe: gyoza

Also known as potstickers or Japanese dumplings, these make an impressive entrée or snack but are easy to prepare.

For this recipe the star ingredient is shitake mushroom but it’s easily replaced by other vegetables, prawns, pork or chicken. It's fun creating your own gyoza combination.

The white, round gyoza wrappers are cheap and readily available from Asian groceries. Any leftover wrappers can be frozen. Adventurous cooks needing a gluten-free option, can try making their own.
