Burnaby International Folk Dancers Newsletter

The program for October 16 has been coordinated by Lori, Bev and Jane, with Lori coordinating the teaching and requests, and Bev and Jane coordinating the Basics program and warm-ups.

Please note that the dance hall is available to us at 6:30pm, and it takes about 10 minutes to set up the room. The Basics program will begin at about 6:40pm and continue to 7:10pm. Schedule we are aiming for: Warm-ups 7:10 - 7:30pm, teaching 7:30 - 8:15pm, break 8:15 - 8:25pm, requests 8:25 - 9:20pm. If you can, please arrive at 6:30pm to help set-up. We all appreciate extra help during take-down at 9:20pm. We must be out by 9:30pm.

We need requests for our Halloween party coming up on October 30. Send requests to the contact form on the website or write them on the request sheet that will be available at dancing.

Upcoming BIFD Events

Halloween Party, Tuesday October 30. If you like, dress scary or silly and bring a snack to share. Dance until 10pm.
BIFD Performance at Nicola Lodge on November 23.
Year-end Winter Dance Party, Tuesday, December 11. If you like, dress for a party or wear an ethnic costume, and bring a snack to share. Dance until 10pm.

Bellingham First Saturday Dances

First Saturdays of each month.
All parties 7:30 – 10:30 PM at the Squalicum Yacht Club.

How to get there:

To get there, turn into Squalicum Way from Roeder Ave. which is parallel to the waterfront. Then, take the 1st right at N. Harbor Loop Drive and follow this short road to it's end. Then turn left into the parking lot and the Squalicum Yacht club can be seen right in front of you.

The address is 2633 S. Harbor Loop Drive.

Dancing starts at 7:30 and runs to 10:30. There is a $15 donation requested.

Hungarian National Dance Ensemble - 2018

Spirit of Hungary – Tour Oct - Nov 2018

An exclusive dance and music performance to commemorate the brave spirit of the 1848 Hungarian Revolution against oppression of the Austrian, Habsburg Monarchy; and celebrate the vibrant and energetic folklore of the Hungarians in the Carpathian Basin. The Hungarian National Dance Ensemble (Magyar Nemzeti Táncegyüttes) is one of Hungary’s most important professional folkdance companies, which has toured on every Continent of the world with great success and acclaim. The Ensemble’s appearance in North America is a rare opportunity to witness Hungarian dance culture at its best.
