But how do all modern technologies impact fashion? And what about the societal impact? We have not abandoned our commitment to the Social Development Goals, so we have included a video about SDG and fashion as well.

At Amazon, researchers from Lab126 are working on an AI fashion designer. For that, they use a generative adversarial network (GAN). This technology was developed by Ian Goodfellow, a Google Brain researcher. This video provides a deep dive into this fascinating technology.

Manufacture it


Carbon and Adidas designed a mass-market 3D-printed sneaker in a way that allows for mass-production instead of small batches and print these numbers in previously impossible designs.

Colour it



Colorifix uses synthetic biology to colour fabrics. Microorganisms are programmed to produce and apply the pigments without the use of acids, solvents or alkalis and reducing the use of water dramatically.

Loomia is a start-up that designs and manufactures soft, flexible circuitry that can heat, light, sense and track data, while seamlessly integrating into soft goods. They also have the LOOMIA TILE, a data collection tile that gathers data and uses blockchain to save, manage and distribute it.

Apparel brand Patagonia takes Fair Trade pretty seriously.  Not only do they want to ensure fair wages and workplace safety for the workers in the supply chain who sew Patagonia clothes,  it also wants to raise awareness with their customers on how they can make a difference in the world with their purchasing decisions.
