A Word from Fr. George...
In the weeks leading up to now, I have communicated in a variety of ways that the parish is about to enter the most interesting of times. Times which will challenge us to be creative and to discover ways to “live our mission” as we “build our future.” Our parish is growing: Hyde Park, Channelside, West River, University of Tampa/North B, Tampa Heights, River Heights, Seminole Heights, and all that lie in between will bring 25,000 new households within the parish boundaries in the next several years. How should we respond? How will we build that future?

During the last two weekends at Mass, we addressed that question through two videos, both of which you can view below. These amazing videos offer a vision of how we can continue to be true to our mission, and at the same time give us the opportunity to imagine new ways of ministry, to welcome our new neighbors, and to support our families. We invite you to consider being a part of this new and evolving parish.

This coming weekend will be our Commitment Weekend. Check your mail this week for our mailing, which includes a brochure and a Commitment Card. We are asking you to pray, to consider, and to plan your future giving to enable us to be a parish, “Living our Mission, Building our Future.” This is not a “pledge,” but rather a means by which we will plan based on your input.

The future is ours to build. The True North vision will come to fruition because of the imagination, passion, and generosity of committed parishioners like yourself. With so much about to change, Sacred Heart is called to be and do so much more. We hope you prayerfully consider how you and your family can help us achieve our goal.
Commitment Weekend
This week in the mail, you will receive more information about our True North vision. Our goal is to fund this vision through our regular Sunday offertory program, and our hope is that in doing so, we can make these improvements as part of our normal parish operating expenses. We would forego our usual campaign for the Annual Pastoral Appeal (APA) as well as the need for a capital campaign for the next several years. It would all be rolled up into your everyday giving, and your commitment allows us to better plan and be good stewards of your gifts.

So what do you do? We ask that each family prayerfully consider what you can financially contribute to help us realize our True North vision. Included in the mailing is a Commitment Card. Bring it with you to Mass next weekend and drop it in the offertory basket during our special collection.

With all the anticipated growth in downtown Tampa over the next five years, Sacred Heart has the opportunity to plan for our future now. But where will we be in the next five, ten, or fifteen years? Watch our video to learn how our vision comes to life.
