How to help kids be fit and healthy


Childhood obesity is a serious problem in the United States, putting children and adolescents at risk for poor health. 

Why is this a problem? Today’s inactive kids are tomorrow’s unhealthy adults. Few behaviors influence child health more than physical activity. But with cutbacks in school programs, increased screen time, and less playtime outdoors, kids are not moving enough. This affects their own health as well as that of their communities.

A yoga class surprise!


This past Friday and Saturday I had the honor of leading yoga classes at Blue Cross NC's grand opening of their new center in Raleigh. We had a wonderful turnout for the event, with people of all ages enjoying the 10-minute Gentle Yoga routine I taught, and the other festivities.

I love opportunities like this to be out in the community and meet people and it was awesome.

But imagine my surprise when the Carolina Hurricanes (ice hockey) mascot Stormy, Storm Squad cheerleaders and a penguin mascot came to class! So much fun!!

This was definitely a class I’ll always remember!
