Great Uses for Halloween Candy
This time tomorrow, when our Leopards have wadded up their costumes in the corner of their rooms and come down from their initial sugar high, you might wonder how to keep them from sneaking candy for a pre-dinner binge? Here are a few ideas:
  • Freeze for use in smoothies or frozen treats. They keep well and gnawing on a frozen Three Musketeers bar takes a lot longer and keeps kids more satisfied with less. (Chocolate goodies are also great in coffee for a special adult treat!)
  • Use to decorate Gingerbread houses. M&Ms, Sour Patch Kids, Swedish Fish and Hershey Kisses are perfect for making the house sweet perfection.
  • Send to our troops. They love receiving individually wrapped treats from home. Send your donation to:
    Operation Shoebox
    8360 East Highway 25
    Belleview. Fl. 34420
  • Use for Math: Practice sorting, counting, estimating, addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
  • Try some experiments: Which candy sinks vs floats in water? How does color separate from the candy in different liquids? Find more experiments by searching “candy science experiments elementary.”
  • Build something. Get a box of toothpicks and see what your students can build with candy. Build a car? How tall a tower can they make? What about a wheel? Does it roll?
Want to include something in the next edition? Please complete the PPP Submission Form here bit.ly/pppsubmit no later than Friday at noon with final content. Thank you!
