Solo workshop with Kim Porter
Every Sunday from 6:30-9:30pm
$15 per session

Do you need something meaningful to do between acting gigs? Do you have a story you are itching to tell? Let award-winning writer/performer Kim Porter help you make that happen at the Solo Workshop.

This workshop is designed to help participants generate new material, support projects already in development, and offer accountability in a relaxed and generous small group environment.

The Solo Workshop is designed to meet the participant where they are and is therefore ideal for both beginners and established writer-performers. Because the Solo Workshop is employing an on-going, drop-in model for participation, artists can work at their own pace and budget.

For more information about the Solo Workshop contact Kim Porter at kim@kimporter.net

Featured Performer:
Eric Storie
Eric took a short form class before finding long form a year later. He has been influenced by his instructors: Sam, Jacque, Jose, Bob and Bill. Locally the teams inspring him are Mail Order Bride, Galapagos, Umlatilde and Salmon Shane. Nationally he enjoys watching The Reckoning, TJ & Dave, King Ten and Trophy Wife.
He loves the Harold especially when the team is on the same page and the group mind is really clicking.  That's the best part of improv for him. The times when everyone is out of their head and the ideas and group mind is flowing.
Eric feels improv is good for the mind, body and soul and everyone should try at least a level 1 class. He thinks so much applies to life.

Favorite quote/advice from a coach/instructor:
Play to the top of your intelligence, don't go for the joke, follow the fear and make your scene partner look good.

You can see Eric perform with:
Skewed News Hour every Friday
Zombie Gourmet every 1st Saturday
Displacers every 3rd Saturday
Too Cubed every 4th Saturday

Birds and Broads

Cast: Jacque Arend and Liz Hutchman

Starting as a one-night-only performance, Birds & Broads have now been performing together for four years. They focus on a single location scene, creating a strong relationship at the top after which they may or may not explore the other rich characters who inhabit that space. Their shows bounce from being utterly hilarious to edge-of-your-seat engaging.

Featured Performer: James Hoffmaster
James has been improvising for over 6 years. He attended the Annoyance Theater intensive and was able to learn from Mick Napier, Susan Messing and Bob Fisher. He credits Brian Ress, Sam Haldiman and Jacque Arend for why he improvises because of their support.  He is also greatful to his wife Wendy for letting him play.
He will often play the straight man in a scene and loves making call backs and finding connections. One of his favorite formats is the Little Brown Jug which he performs with his group RPM.
He suggests finding a group you like playing with and lean on them for support. That's one of the things he loves about playing with his group Hearts on Fire.

Favorite quote/advice from a coach/instructor:
Shut down the voice  that questions your choices. If that's not possible uber agree - Susan Messing

You can see James perform with:
Hearts on Fire every 2nd Saturday
Featured team every third Saturday

Displacers

Cast: Chris Hooper, Eric Storie, Rick Grove, Sam Haldiman and Sara Palmer with accompanist Chad Michael Lawson

The Displacers have been performing the long-form signature format the Harold for six years.
They perform with a high energy and create a rich cast of characters that will keep you talking about their show for days.
It's no use trying to explain the show to a friend.
Tell them they just need to be there.
