The coaches' tracksuits are in and will be sorted and handed out in the coming days. The association has budgeted in to cover half of the costs for the tracksuits for travel coaches. I will be reaching out to the coaches in the coming days about more of these details as I have the suits inventoried and ready to be handed out.

Board of Directors Meeting This week on Thursday the BOD will have a portion of the meeting that will be open for general Q&A from the you, the membership. The meeting will start promptly at 6:00pm. We are currently meeting every other week (closed) as the BOD recognizes that we have a lot of work to get this organization to the point where we want to be. This is a process and we are always working towards our goal of being a model association and destination for hockey players across the mid-west. This will take time and there will be trials and errors, but the resolve of the BOD, all of the coaches, volunteers, and directors is stronger than ever.
Halloween Parade October 27, 2018 On October 27, 2018 we will be having a float in the 2018 Cedar Rapids Halloween Parade.
We will be handing out candy and information about the Try Hockey Free event on November 10th. With that said, we will be building the parade float this week at the rink on Tuesday and Wednesday 5:30-7:30pm and will need assistance. Please volunteer your time if you will be around.
Try Hockey For Free Referral Plan
I am presenting ALL RRHC families the opportunity to be a part of this community and have a difference in our growth. I have told many families this before, but real growth will occur through you, the membership, sharing events like Try Hockey For Free and sharing stories with your friends and other family members about our program and the direction it is headed. With that, I am going to provide you with a chance to help us grow while giving your player a chance to attend our spring and summer camps. If you refer a player(s) to Try Hockey For Free and they show up your son/daughter will receive a $15.00 coupon that can be used for any of our 2019 camps. If that referred player goes into any of the programs at the rink then you will receive a $30.00 coupon redeemable at any 2019 camp.
When players check-in for THFF they will be asked if they were referred and by whom and we will track that information. Following the completion of the event players will receive their certificates from me to save and use for the spring or summer.
Game jerseys have arrived and are being sorted this week. The plan is to have them out to all the players on Thursday before our skills practice. These jerseys and socks can only be worn for games and not practices. Also, it is important that all players are wearing their assigned practice jerseys for every practice. This provides the coaches a very efficient way of dividing up players for games and battles in stations.
Season Dues I am still receiving questions about the season fees that our families are paying and how the money is being spent. In our last open BOD meeting we discussed this in detail with the members that attended. Fundraising Details on Website The BOD has been working hard to provide opportunities for all of our travel teams to raise money to increase their refund and to have the ability to schedule more friendlies. The November-December session of RoughRiders Youth Hockey League (RYHL) and Instructional Program (IP) is now open. You can find all the necessary details on our website:
Purpose of RYHL and IP The RYHL and IP provides an opportunity for all players of all abilities to receive the necessary instruction to improve their understanding of how to play and skill acquisition. These two programs are "house only", which means there is no traveling involved. I have been told there is some confusion on the difference between our travel and house programs. Within RoughRiders Hockey Club we have travel and house programs that are different, but are all overseen by me as the Hockey Director under RoughRiders Hockey Club.
