There are two potential environmental disasters waiting to happen in the Highlands... the first is the access to the Peatlands Project, Flows to the future, and the second is the proposed space project.

Two environmental disasters waiting to happen

Why won't they back the North Highland Way....
Politics as usual....
The first is the Peatlands of Caithness... the access is difficult - but not for walking, cycling and horse riding, as 40 businesses proposed back in 2010 as a spur off the North Highland Way
The second is the proposed site a vertical take off space project.  What ARE Highlands and Enterprise doing?  They should be disbanded.  No thought for the environment, or of Gods earth.  The rector will be horrified when I tell her.

The proposed site of the space project... right in the heart of the north... the local people know little about it, nor do the Environmental Research Institute. Highlands and Enterprise won't tell them.

The Peatlands of Caithness could end up like this...

The picture above is the stage of the roads in the Highlands thanks to NC500, the route around the Highlands which has been a great success.  However, now a number of organisations are trying to attract visitors to the hinterland, a precious environmental resource - but only by car...it's easy enough to walk in...

Highlands and Islands Enterprise funded the NC500 and are looking at the space project, but they have not followed the EU Directives on Climate Change and Sustainable Tourism.  Oh dear, there could be serious consequences for Scotland.  I have written to Mrs. May, Mr. Gove and Mr. Hammond, and also the BBC.

Not true about beautiful Loja in Granada Spain.  The Spaniards are very proud and protective of their environment.

On a lighter note... members of the Hispanic Society of Carrickfergus can get 10% off wine at a special event being run by Direct Wines in Belfast.
