Youth Essay Competition – Shortlist and winners

We would like to take the opportunity to thank all of the candidates for their enthusiastic participation and thoughtfully-written submissions in this year’s SME Week Youth Essay Competition. The quality of the essays was impressive, and the jury carefully reviewed each submission before deliberating the shortlist and top three candidates.

We would firstly like to congratulate and give the following entrants special mentions. These essays were of remarkable quality, and were selected by the jury for the competition shortlist:

Antonios Vasilakis Kinalis (Greece), Babatunde Onabajo (UK), Georgina Whiteman (UK), Klemens Okkels (Denmark), Roberta Dobra (Romania), Rory Daniels (UK)

We also have the great pleasure of announcing the top three finalists, who will be invited to join us at the SME Assembly in Graz to present their essays and compete for the public vote. Congratulations to the following three young Europeans, whose strong essays captivated the jury:

Joakim Davidsson (Sweden), Marija Elena Borg (Malta) and Ngaio Olsen-Stahl (France)

Finally, the Youth Essay Competition jury felt it was important to commend the excellent essay written by Vincent Straub from Germany. The jury were only able to select three finalists, but felt that his articulate and researched essay deserved special recognition.

Thank you to all of this year’s candidates, and congratulations to our special mentions and finalists. We look forward to meeting the top three in Graz for the final stage of the competition!
