I'm truly honored to share my first email to our broader community. Since moving to Kansas City, I've felt so grateful to be embraced and welcomed so warmly!
And, I'm excited because our team is launching two new phases of our work:
1) We're recruiting for our founding 5th graders!
- We'll be part of a new common application for many charter schools, SchoolAppKC, which launches in early December. In the meantime, please let us know if you're interested in applying!
- We're hosting a series of Family Dinners for families and community members. Please RSVP here. We'll provide childcare, and are so excited to get to connect and learn more about each other!
2) We're hiring for our founding team!
Finally, I wanted to share two recent wins:
- We owe a huge debt of gratitude to our Community Design Supporters, as we've just been awarded two significant grants that will help ensure a strong start for our families, students, and team:
- SchoolSmartKC approved a one million dollar investment to support our founding team during our critical launch years.
- The Federal Department of Education invested over one million dollars and awarded us perfect scores for our school design, leading to one of the highest overall scores in the nation.
- The State Board of Education has now approved our charter application. You can read the Northeast News coverage here.
