CROP HUNGER WALK SUCCESSFUL
A BIG thank you to our "Prince of Peace Crop Walk" walkers!  Thank you also to all who showed their support by making a donation.  Watch for more information about how much we collected.

BOOM FUNDRAISER---Candy and Nut Fundraiser
Candy and nut sales are underway!  Order forms are due Sunday, October 28th and are available in the Narthex.  Terri Lynn Nut Co. products are perfect for holiday celebrations and as Christmas presents!

THANK YOU FROM THE WOMEN'S GROUP
We want to thank everyone who helped write out Christmas cards for the Service men and women, with special thanks to Thursday Bible Study for their EXTRA support.  Margo delivered 222 cards to Operation Support Our Troops-America.  Again, thank you!

ALL SAINTS SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 4TH
Please be sure to submit names of those who have died so that they may be included our Service on All Saints Sunday, November 4th.  Names may be emailed to the church office at info@popwoodridge.org or look for the basket of paper crosses and pencils in the Narthex to submit your names.

 
THANKSGIVING MEALS FOR FAMILIES
Prince of Peace will be providing Thanksgiving meals for 12 families in need this year.  We are asking our members to provide the various food item; please watch for the sign-in sheet in the Narthex and stay tuned for more information


CHRISTMAS IS COMING
And we want to let you know the BOOM COMMITTEE is planning a HOMEMADE CHRISTMAS COOKIE SALE! It will be held both before and after Service on Sunday, December 16th. To help in our planning, we would like to hear from you.  What are some of your favorite Christmas cookies?  Jot down some of your favorites on the poster in the Narthex.  (Watch for future updates.)

Mark your calendars to join us on Tuesday, November 6th for our Ladies Lunch at Fork & Spoon, 1264 State Street in Lemont.  Please let Barb Vogel know if you will be able to attend

ADOPT-A-SPOT -  HELP WANTED
This program is for P.O.P. members, families, friends or teams who “Adopt a Spot” and take active responsibility for maintaining that particular Spot (flowerbed, shrubs, area) of the Church grounds. Currently there are several Spots available for "adoption". If you are interested please write your name on one or more blank lines on the large poster in the Narthex.  I will then contact you to give you more  information. Or you can contact me at juddex59@yahoo.com, (630) 964-3611, or see  me at church for any questions you might have

Do you have: Committee information, thank you’s, important dates, announcements or a celebration? Please let the office know so that we can include information in our weekly newsletters and add your info onto our church calendar
 

The Council met on October 9, 2018 and discussed the following:
 
Web site – Stef T. reported that she has worked with Maureen to review the web site and discussed what items needed to be added and to be kept current. Stef will continue to work with Maureen and our Web Master to coordinate the web site for POP. Discussion was also held to upload the sermon on our web site in the future.
 
Organist/pianist Search – Jeanne S. stated that at this time there were no applicants for the position.
 
Direct Deposit & Amazon - Lisa O. stated she is checking into Good Search Web site which allows shoppers to choose POP as getting a percentage of their shopping.
 
Funeral Coordinator– Jeanne S. stated that Bette Bruce volunteered to be the Funeral Coordinator.
 
Advance Disposal – Atis M. reported that he and Margo took the final check directly to Advance Disposal and that Advance will be picking up their container in the near future.
 
Audit Report – Ruth H. reviewed the Audit report and a motion was approved by voice vote to accept and approve the audit.
 
Woodridge Diversity Gathering – Jeanne S. praised Pastor Tim for the talk he gave at the Ecumenical Diversity that was held, Sunday, October 7th.
 
Stewardship pledge drive – Rich stated that he and Jim A. were working on the form to be mailed out soon. The requested date for the pledges to be returned is on Pledge Sunday, November 11th.
 
Worship and Music – A motion was made and approved for Ruth H. to order welcome post cards to be sent to visitors who attended services at POP.

A prayer for healing for Doreen, Stef’s sister, and for a quick recovery from a recent fall.
 
A prayer of thanks for the many blessings of the life of Earl Sime, and a prayer for comfort and peace for his family.
