Dear Friends,

Our shelter home is full. Full of people, women, children, lives. Full of love, hope, recovery. We recently welcomed new mothers and have new babies to love and more babies to love who will be arriving soon!

We are grateful for you who help by remembering us in prayer, with donations of funds and material needs, and those who are able to volunteer their time, either once a week or one time as part of a group of volunteers. We couldn't do this without your support. Thank you!

Hope In Harmony

A few weeks ago, the Lakelanders Barbershop Chorus put on a fantastic Hope in Harmony show benefiting the three Hopes; Ruth's House, Hope Center, and Whispers of Hope. The audience were treated to the smooth vocals of the Lakelanders and the upbeat Benson Family Singers as they sung Gospel favorites.

Christmas Show

The Girl Singers of the Hit Parade
NOVEMBER 18TH 3pm Our Savior's Lutheran Church Faribault

Christmas is a time we all want to hear those cherished songs that bring a wave of nostalgia. Most of the popular Christmas songs were made famous in the 1950s and this show brings them all back. The Lennon Sisters, Andrews Sisters, McGuire Sisters and the King Family were a part of every family’s Holiday and still are in many cases.

"The Girl Singers of the Hit Parade” encompass this warm family feeling with their Christmas Show. Admission is free. A freewill offering will be collected for Ruth's House. Intern Spotlight

This month we want to spotlight our new intern, Dana Baker. Dana observes everything going on around her and she is thorough with every task that she is presented. The staff and residents love having her around!

Dana shares:

I grew up in a small town in northern Minnesota. I am 21 and currently a Junior at Minnesota State University, Mankato in the social work department. I recently transferred there from the University of Illinois so that I could be closer to home. In the future I would like to work for child protective services.

I am currently doing my field hours for my department at Ruth's House. I knew little about Ruth's House going into my internship; however, from my experience so far everyone there is professional and does their best to serve one another. I am proud that I am able to do what I can to be apart of the organization.

Volunteer Opportunities

Gala Committee - Looking for a new volunteer opportunity which also happens to be a fun way to meet other supporters of Ruth's House? Then join us! Our next meeting is in November and it's not too late to join as we plan the 2019 Hearts Gala set for February 9th, 2019. Childcare Volunteers - Come play with the kids while their moms attend weekly meetings and classes. Short shifts available Wednesday evenings, once a month on Sunday afternoons, and Monday evenings 6:30-8:30pm .

Front Desk Receptionist - Love helping others and have availability during weekdays? We are looking for front desk receptionists to help out at the shelter answering the doors and phones and logging donations.

Contractor or Handy person - We are looking for contractors to help with needed repairs at the shelter for a variety of projects. Know how to fix a bicycle or lay tile or install carpet? Help with lawn care or landscaping? Consider volunteering at Ruth's House!

Graphic Design or IT Support - Have graphic design skills, or technical know-how? We could always use your help!
