BALLOT RIDE!

We are testing a new program in Jefferson County this election cycle. We know that a few of our neighbors are not able to get to a mailbox or ballot drop box so we are starting a program to give rides to voters who cannot get there themselves so they can drop their ballots. This program has an email address for those interested:

If you are available to drive please respond with "Drive" in the subject line and include available times in the body of the email. If you know of someone who needs a ride please respond with "Ride" in the subject line.

There are restrictions. The voter must be registered to vote in Jefferson County. There is no guarantee that a ride will be available if requested; if there is no driver available the ride cannot occur. This program is open to all registered voters in the County; we cannot accept some voters and turn away others if in fact a driver is available. Since this program is voluntary, it can be terminated at any time if it is abused.

Ballot Drop Boxes

Election Day is Tues., Nov. 6, 2018

Ballot drop boxes are the most secure method to ensure ballots are received on time. They don't require postage.

  • For your ballot to count, it must be returned or postmarked by Election Day. The date of election is at the top of your ballot and on your return envelope.
  • Deposit it in an official ballot drop box no later than 8:00 p.m. Election Night;
  • Return it via United States Postal Service -It MUST be postmarked no later than Election Day. If you mail it on Election Day we suggest you take it in and ask them to hand cancel it, otherwise the cancellation date may be the next day and considered too late; If you mail it, check the return envelope to see if a stamp is required!
  • Return it to the county Auditor's Office by 8:00 p.m. Election Night.
