New Angelus Group for South Africa.
I have just recently returned from South Africa.  Father Joseph from the Rome Angelus group knew some people in South Africa who were interested in forming an Angelus Intercessory Prayer Group.  So with forty eight hours’ notice Pauline Baldwin and myself flew to Capetown to be met by Father Joseph and his Aunt who lives there.
We stayed at the Sisters of Nazareth Convent which was an enormous compound with hundreds of people living there. We felt very safe there as it was situated behind high walls with security guards.  In this complex the Sisters provide care to Orphaned disabled and abandoned babies, A hospital for those suffering with Dementia, Aged Care Facilities, a Nursing Home and Units for retired Missionary priests that have worked in Africa plus a Novitiate for the training of their nuns.
We visited the historical docks where the world’s trade between the Dutch Indies and Europe took place. Not just for food and water for the passing ships but a slave market enterprise for England and America. The trafficking of human beings and the wretchedness of a slave’s existence and the cruelty of those in power for financial gain.
In the prayer ministry of intercession we are called to pray for the past and the present economic enslavement of a nation so God’s Spirit can bless the land and its people. We also visited Robbin Island where Nelson Mandela was in prison for twenty- eight years. This conditions were in humane and before you enter the prison the guide informs you that you will experience a heaviness or spiritual oppression. It’s true the spirits of oppression, hate, cruelty, despair, violence remain there. They are so tangible you feel them as you walk into the different cells except for Mandela’s. I t was interesting to notice how the African indigenous coped with these spiritual experiences. Many cried while others played African music from their IPhone. I do not know if they were praise songs to lift the spirit of heaviness or to just play music to cope with the reality of their nations Justice system.  On this same island there had also been a Leprosy Colony and a Hospital for the Insane.
We laid the groundwork for the Angelus group in a surfing village south of Capetown and it was wonderful to mix with the locals.  We also climbed a hill at the back of a Monastery to pray there as well.  Pauline took our picture and was very careful to not fall off the hill.  But she slipped going down the hill and broke her arm.  Craig and Father Joseph were able to take us too many places for prayer ministry that would not usually be accessible to others.
I have now returned to Australia with lots of history books to help us as an angelus group to   intercede and ask forgiveness for past injustices.  To make reparation for the past so the Holy Spirit can make a new creation in this country that is still so divided.
So please pray for God to continue blessing the members of our Sth African Angelus Group that they will persevere and pray for their divided nation..

ACAFE GROUPS
I have been delighted with the response of so many Angelus members willing to coordinate groups in their area.   Katherine and Beryl have been very busy helping the independent groups  to articulate their aims and objectives.  When you look at the variety of groups that are being created it’s amazing how an idea to share a cup of coffee with someone can create a nucleus for such diverse communities.
St Theresa of Calcutta once said that the people in the west were also poor and hungry as they may be surrounded by possessions but hunger to belong to a community where they are valued.   We are excited at the formation of  ACafé groups to help to feed this loneliness and   hunger for human contact.

ACAFE @ Townsville
Many Volunteers in the ACafe Townsville come from a professional background in Education.   They are on the front line every day working with vulnerable young people who are suffering from family breakdown, learning difficulties, health issues and economic stress.  They continue to met each month to support the group as they work through the reality of how to offer inclusion for marginalized, cultural disadvantaged, aboriginal young people and adults in their area of expertise.
      .
ACAFE@Casino
The Minstrels Musicians from Casino and Father Erick from Kyogle were warmly greeted with enthusiasm and applause at the Winsome healing service last Sunday.  Casino continues to reach out to their community.

ACAFE@ Winsome Women Outside
This week we held our second ACafé meeting for the Winsome Women who are outside.  Nine women turned up so excited and full of enthusiasm that they had a safe and welcoming haven to come and share about their experiences of being in and out of jail.

ACAFE@ Winsome Spiritual Conversations
This group has been going for eight months and instead of each fortnight it’s now weekly.  A few women from the Winsome Women Outside have now asked if they can join with this group as well.  The local welfare groups in the Lismore area have now heard what we are offering and they want us to begin another A/Café group in a months’ time where women can come and share their fears.

ACAFE@ Winsome Men's Music:
Paul has been just as active nurturing a men’s group at the Winsome Hotel   with Pastor Ian to create a safe place where the homeless can come and play music together and share their story and life experiences.  They have been restoring old guitars and using them in the group.

START AN ACAFE GROUP IN YOUR AREA:
ACAFE Central builds the social capital in local communities by training independent groups to identify volunteering opportunities.  Groups are autonomous non incorporated bodies with a common ethos but independently responsible for their own management and volunteers.
‘Towards 2020’ emphases support initiatives targeting intentional growth of groups and volunteers to strengthen their local community such as Workshops and support for marginalized families effected by break down of the family unit due to divorce, illness, mental health and domestic violence.  Cultural Diversity – ‘same-same but different’ Support for homelessness - women over 55, Child Alert Support are examples of where you might get involved.
Volunteer leaders meet as a larger group to encourage each other as they share ideas. The funding helps build their leadership skills and abilities and offsets some costs towards petrol, resources and training for the local volunteers who help disadvantaged communities and welcome inclusion of marginalized people in community life. For more information go to our website and make an enquiry now.

Walking in the Footsteps of Christ:
The month of September has been very active with many Casino members visiting the Holy Land and we have been blessed to share their journey on Facebook.  We have attached some photos for you to enjoy.

Hi everyone just a quick note to share a bit of my experience in the Holy Land.

What an amazing experience to follow in the footsteps of Jesus. I appreciate even more

This amazing Man’s and His disciples had to endure. The terrain is harsh, rocky, mountainous

extremely dry and dusty. Yet beautiful in all its extremes.

I am still experiencing the beauty of my trip as I sort out photos and actually writing my journal now day by day I am still enjoying the experience today. It is like the lost memories that I

had have come back to the ones at the fore front. There was so much to experience and so much packed in that now as these wonderful memories come back I am astounded and the trip has come much more enriched.

We were truly blessed with the group we went with, everyone got on so well we all just gelled. Lots of laughs good food and wonderful company.

I went over with no expectations only that the Lord deepen my faith and trust in Him.

On pounding what I experienced I believe this is happening. Coming back reading the Word going to Mass saying the Rosary has allowed me to come into a deeper understanding of the life of Jesus and His suffering for His mission of giving salvation to the world.

I have lots to share,  but of cause cannot do this in one lot.

I will share later on the Miracle He gave me at the Sea of Galilee and the message with that.

Plus, different insights that was given to me than and since coming back about the Agony in the Garden and the Universal mass and the people that we meant on our Journey yes also in Dubai.

May God bless you all and everywhere I went you also came with me.

You can see that our Icon which was a representation of the new direction of Mary of the Angelus Community is going. Was with me on my travels (that is another story in itself) also received many graces and blessing for the new Community. So that we may move forward in the new direction being led by the Holy Spirit as a faithful community reaching out to each other and others in love and respect with the Gifts and the fruits of the Holy Spirit.

God bless to all love Flocky (Denise)

We have experienced our first Electronic Board Meeting last month with Skype - what a good experience that was. One half of the board met in Brisbane and the second group met in Lismore. I think we achieved more than when we travel to Tweed Heads and spend hours travelling to the venue.
The new company is moving forward with the help of Peter Sultana. We really appreciate the help he gives to us and value his experience.

The Christmas party is coming up in Ballina on 8th December. Starting at 10am
The venue is at Dave and Trish Bazar
66 Norton Street, Ballina.
(We bring a small gift and a plate of Christmas Food to share).
Please confirm your attendance and numbers - info@angeluscommunity.com.au

Praying with Litanies  - Click Here to Download
Recently I was asked by one of the Leaders of an Angelus Group if I  could write a spiritual explanation of the  titles in a Litany.  They wanted to be spiritually enlightened about what they were praying for.  As Litany titles have a two fold purpose for setting us free and healing our wounded spirit    we can co-operate with grace when we understand how Jesus is blessing us.    I have also include the simple steps on how to meditate on the individual titles.
This is new material and  I encourage you to download the sheets from the web site and use in your Prayer Groups.
