SKELETONS IN THE ABBEY - Hexham Holiday Club and Trinity are supporting “Skeletons in the Abbey” from 2-4pm on Saturday 27th October in the Abbey. This is an opportunity for us to share the Christian roots of lots of the Halloween traditions. There will be activities such as Soul Cake decorating, skeleton puppets, candle boats and a shadow puppet show. It is hoped that this event will be a “shining light” at the start of Hexham’s Spook Night activities. Volunteers for baking please contact Isaac Webb.
MONDAY BIBLE STUDY - Instead of our usual Bible Study on Monday, 22nd October, we will be attending the training evening on the season of invitation on Wednesday, 24th October, at 7.30 pm. We will revert to our normal day and time in the Prayer Chapel at Trinity on Monday, 5th November, at 2.00 pm, where all are welcome. David Lees.
TUESDAY COFFEE MORNING - There will be a meeting for all helpers on Tuesday 30th October at 12.15pm in the coffee lounge, to decide which charities to support and to discuss staffing the new rota. Thank you to all who have helped serve and those who have supported the coffee morning, it has been a successful year. More helpers are welcome so please come to the meeting and meet the team. Speak to Jean Thompson for more information.
HEXHAM REMEMBRANCE PEACE VIGIL - At Hexham Abbey on Sat 10th November 10am to 12noon. A time for quiet reflection on the tragedy and devastation war causes, and our continuing human struggle to find alternatives to war as a means of resolving conflict. Organised by Hexham Quakers, it will feature contributions by representatives of local churches and other faiths, interspersed by periods of silence. All are warmly invited to take part, for just a few minutes or for longer. We need a volunteer to represent Trinity at the Peace Vigil - if you would like to do this please contact John in the Church Office.
FOOD BANK - The Foodbank are overwhelmed with the donations received as a result of Harvest Festivals and extend their thanks to everyone involved. In the true spirit of the harvest we now feel ready for the winter months. Regular donations continue to be most welcome as stocks are distributed to those in need at quite a pace. Trinity continues to help with bag packing and we need 2 volunteers for each of the 3 days in weeks commencing 22nd Oct, 10th Dec, 18th Feb and 8th April. In addition volunteers are needed for the annual Christmas collection at Tesco Hexham, 10am-4pm from Thursday the 29th of November to Saturday the 1st of December to hand out leaflets and encourage shoppers to donate food and cash. Volunteers or questions contact Claire Pyle or Peter Smith.
CLOSER - Note that the next Closer: Engaging with God through Prayer, Praise and Ministry will be on Tuesday 4th December rather than the usual 3rd Tuesday of November.
CAKES FOR PARENTS & BABIES GROUP - If you are able to make a cake for the Monday morning parents and babies group please leave in the kitchen or put in the freezer labelled for parents & babies. It will save us buying cakes - contact Isaac Webb if you need more details.
