It's HOMECOMING!

Iowa State is obsessed with its traditions, and we're about to jump into one of the Big Ones

How will you celebrate Homecoming? There's a parade on Sunday that kicks off a week of activities and Cyclone heart emojis. Next week will feature food on central campus, the Homecoming banners will be up, and literal yellow and red leaves softly falling. It is the IDEAL college brochure come to life. ISU's Homecoming is one of the best times to be a Cyclone. There are tournaments, talent competitions, banners and displays, and a lot of nostalgic alumni who will be returning to wander around our beautiful campus to reminisce.

Homecoming activities will continue throughout the week, and culminate Friday night (and, of course, at the Homecoming game on Saturday morning). Check out the Homecoming events on the calendar here. Homecoming is led by students who are a part of the Student Alumni Leadership Council (SALC), which is an organization you should definitely get involved in if you are looking for an outlet for your leadership skills. Happy Homecoming!

Advice from an Honors Ambassador:

Emma Chizek, junior in Supply Chain Management and International Business
Food, football, and fireworks - oh my! It's finally the end of October, so you know what that means: it's almost homecoming. Iowa State's Homecoming Central Committee works really hard all year round to put on fun events for the campus to celebrate cyclone pride. Next week consists of a parade, food on campus, tournaments, a pep rally, the football game, pancakes, fireworks, and campaniling. Make sure you to check the student activities on the Alumni Association website to see what kind of events are happening throughout the week; homecoming is a great way to learn about ISU traditions, which fits this year's theme This is State. I hope to see you at some of the events and GO CYCLONES!

Everyone loves a parade!

Homecoming kicks off with the the parade on Sunday, October 21 at 2:00pm on Main Street in downtown Ames. Take a shuttle there, cheer on your friends and admire the floats, and visit all the food trucks. See more information here.

Homecoming Friday night, early (6:00-9:00pm):

Start your Friday night at the Alumni Center! Use your Food on Campus button for food. The Pep Rally begins at 7:00pm and features the ISUCF'V' Marching Band and Spirit Squad, coaches and student-athletes (from football, men's and women's basketball, volleyball, and wrestling), Yell Like Hell finals, and Cardinal Court. ExCYtement in the Streets/Lawn Displays will begin at 8:00pm in Greekland with the giant lawn display presentations.

Homecoming Friday night, later (11:00pm-whenever they run out of pancakes):

Eat pancakes on central campus starting at 11:00pm (bring $3) before mass campaniling and fireworks (literal and metaphorical?) at midnight.
