Movie Night

Come join us rain or shine for a fun family evening this Friday, October 19. Movie night will include food trucks, a CBC Kids Choir performance, Upwards fall season celebration and a fantastic outdoor family movie. Bring your blankets and lawn chairs and come early to get a good spot! Food Trucks will begin serving at 5:30pm and the production will begin at 6:30pm. If it is raining, movie night will be moved indoors.


Compassion Experience

This free event features an interactive journey through the true stories of Yannely and Sameson living in the developing countries of the Dominican Republic & Ethiopia. IIn over 2,000 square feet of interactive exhibit space, visitors will step inside homes, markets and schools — without getting on a plane. Each child’s story starts in poverty but ends in hope. Get a sneak peek here! **After your tour, you’ll have an opportunity to Sponsor a child in poverty. At CBC, we are strategically partnering with Compassion International in Mexico to make the biggest impact possible! As you select which child you feel called to sponsor, please prayerfully consider partnering with your church family in our goal of changing the lives of over 5,000 children in Chiapas, Mexico.

Go Forth Missions Expo

Did you know CBC partners with nearly 100 local and global ministry partners in an effort to mobilize our members to use their passions, gifts and resources to brightly shine the light of Jesus?! Well, during all services this weekend, get ready for a CBC Lobby TAKE OVER and all things CBC Missions!! At the Go Forth Missions Expo, local ministry and mission trip partners will be represented so that you can easily and effectively learn about what local, national and international mission opportunities we offer through CBC and our partner organizations. There is no better place to discover where you can GO FORTH and serve in our city and around the world!

Fall Picnic

If you are a Young Professionals, Young Married or a Young Family, come join us for a Fall Picnic! It's on October 21 at McAllister Park, Pavilion 4 from 4:00-7:00pm we will have fun fellowship, yard games and free food! Take advantage of an afternoon to meet other professionals or couples who are walking through everyday life just like you. Consider bringing a lawn chair or blanket. Young Marrieds

Join the CBC Young Marrieds Bible Study and HIS Bridge Builders for a Block Party at 9:00am on Saturday, November 17. We will pack bags full of Thanksgiving Food to give away at this event located at 710 Arthur St. SA 78202. Email adultgroups@cbc.email if you'd like to donate canned goods for this event.


Leadership Training

Visitation Training

Do you have a heart for those in need of a warm, personal visit while they are hospitalized, recovering from surgery, in a retirement or nursing home, or home-bound?  Join us for some visitation training provided by our very own Prime Timer, Bob Weber.  Bob has served for years with Methodist Hospitals as a Chaplain, and he will share with us from his knowledge and experience.  We want to do a great job of providing soul care for one another, and learning how to honor someone with a thoughtful visit is a great way to do that.  Training is Sunday, Oct 21, from 10:00am-11:00am in Portable 6A.  To RSVP, email Royce.Smith@cbc.email

 

Mid-Week Gathering

It's that time again!  On Wednesday, Oct 24, we will gather in E-209 for a delicious meal, hymn singing, a Pastor's testimony, a short devotional, and then cards, dominoes, and games.  Meal starts at 11:00am so invite a friend and come on up.

Leadership Breakfast

Attention all men! Join us every Thursday morning for breakfast and to hear valuable leadership lessons from some of San Antonio's most influential leaders! This Thursday we welcome our very own NICO LAHOOD! You certainly do not want to miss this week! Join us at 6:00am in Central for our Men's Leadership Breakfast “Learning to Live a Life of Influence". At Impact we are going through a series called "Crew". We are encouraging students to bring a friend. This week is "REP YOUR SCHOOL". Make sure you show your school spirit and homeschoolers wear your pajamas. Middle School Service at 6:30pm and High School at 7:30pm.

Kids Church Host Team

Join the team who specializes in great first impressions. The host team interacts with first-time families to assist them in any way needed. CR 2nd Birthday

Celebrate Recovery at CBC turns 2 years old on October 24. Join us on October 23 as we look back on all God has done in the past two years and celebrate what He has in store for our continued healing in the future! Celebrate Recovery is for everyone who has hurts, habits, and hang ups which can hinder growth in our lives. As Pastor Ed has been teaching us about the prodigal son, CR is a place for prodigals and those with loved ones who are prodigals. Come find help, hope and healing in CR. Some examples of issues people work through with God’s help in CR: Hurts – Abuse, Hurts by family, friends, employers or others, Guilt and Shame over hurting others Habits – Drugs, Alcohol, Codependency, Food, Anger, Sex, Gambling, Spending money, Worry Hang Ups – Issues from the past, Pride, Unforgiveness, Difficulty setting boundaries with others.

Mental Health Event

Join us for a city-wide ecumenical worship service for those who are impacted by a mental illness. This special service is for those who are dealing with a mental health issue, for those who provide care and support, and for anyone who wishes to join in prayer, song, and worship to find comfort, hope, and strength.

Clergy from various denominations and traditions will come together to help lead the service. There will also be information on local resources available to help individuals and families and a short reception following the service. This service is Sunday, October 21, 2018 at 5 pm at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church located at 315 E Pecan Street. Young Marrieds

Looking for a community with young adult married couples? Join Pastor Kevin Womack and his wife, Lisa, as they bring Godly wisdom and practical insight to those in the early stages of marriage. Goals of the group are to build community, share in bible study, impact the city through service and pray for each other. Meets Sundays at 11:30 in E352. You are welcome to join any Sunday and invite your friends!

Care And Support

Care and Support Ministry is currently seeking God's favor to expand and offer more days and times of Lay Care Ministry to meet the needs of our growing congregation. Has God been calling you to serve those who are hurting?  We have an opportunity for Wise Counsel graduates who are also church members. Meet weekly with adults who are experiencing struggles in life to offer biblical guidance in a confidential and safe environment.  Ongoing biblical training and supervision is provided. Opportunities are available weekdays and evenings 3-4 hours a week. Spanish speakers are needed.

Join the bookstore team as a sales floor volunteer!  Welcome our guests to the store with a friendly smile and offer assistance in selecting books, bibles and gifts. If this sounds like a good fit for you, then start your journey with The Store at CBC and get involved in ministry opportunities to serve at church during weekend services or on weekdays.

Early Childhood

A volunteer opportunity designed for anyone fifth grade-adult who desires to work with infants to four year olds.  This volunteer opportunity offers the chance to interact with children in a classroom setting with Bible lessons and activities to set their foundation in Christ.  Volunteer opportunities are available on the weekends during every service.

Communion

Romans 10:15 says, 'How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!'  What a great description for our Communion Team.  We have the honor of delivering good news to everyone who worships at CBC: the good news that Jesus has paid for our sins and offers us new life!  If you would like to help us share this good news, we would love to have you join our Communion Team.  We can use help in every service, and are especially looking for new volunteers for the 11:30am and 1:00pm services.  Contact Royce.Smith@cbc.email to find out more.
