Important Safety Message from Administration
Dear Families,

Please see a few School Reminders from our LP Admin Team:
We recognize that our school community joins together for carpooling or extended family/friends to help with transportation to and from school.  Please review some friendly reminders for Parents (or to share with designated persons) to support school policies.  Thank you!

LP’s Arrival & Dismissal:

NO ACCESS BY PARENTS/CHAPERONES/VISITORS of K-8 STUDENTS between 7:30-8:30 AM  &  2:30-3:30 PM
  • Entry during these times are by appointment only
  • If visiting outside these hours, parents must be checked-in at the front office
  • No parents are allowed in classrooms without a teacher present
  • STUDENT entry should be through front doors of the main building lobby at all times, unless otherwise instructed by staff  (no drop offs or entry through rear gate behind school / near middle school mod)
Arrival:
Students may arrive to the school grounds and be dropped off beginning at 7:30 AM.  Any student dropped off before 7:30 AM must be escorted and report to Before Care or remain supervised by a guardian.
There are no exceptions to arrival policy before 7:30 AM unless arrangements have been made in advance by Lutz Preparatory staff (i.e. Safety Patrols, Tutoring, or by Appointment only).
  • If you have a student who is in tutoring but has a sibling not in tutoring, the sibling still needs to remain supervised by a parent/guardian
  • Siblings should not be left outside the building unsupervised prior to 7:30 AM
Dismissal:
Parents/guardians or designated approved parties may only pick up students whose names are on the 2018-19 LP Official Dismissal Tag
  • Physical copies of the 2018-19 LP Official Dismissal Tag are allowed
  • No electronic copies of dismissal tags will be accepted in carline (i.e. pictures on cell phones, etc.)
  • Students who have not been picked up by the end of carline will be escorted to the PrePrep building and will be subject to paying the daily rate for aftercare services. For the purpose of supervision, LP cannot accept calls when carline is ending stating one is “on their way” or requesting to “hold students” or “to not take students to aftercare.”
Volunteers or Visitors on Campus:
A driver's license or state issued ID is required to be shown to office employee at check-in; electronic pictures or just knowing the ID number not permitted for check-in.  All volunteers and visitors on our campus must check-in with our office staff to receive an identification badge that must be worn at all times on campus.  When leaving campus, volunteers and visitors must check-out and turn in the badge.

Art Department Needs Your Submissions for a  Leader In Me Exhibit
Calling all LP students! We need your creative input for a permanent Leader in Me Art Exhibit!  You will be using your photography skills. We would be delighted to have each student participate.

Here are the steps….
  • Step #1: Find objects that represent how you practice one of the 7 Habits. For example, you could use soccer socks to represent Habit #3, Put First Things First, to show that you put “First Things First” by practicing soccer drills before you watch TV.
  • Step #2: Arrange those objects into the acronym letters, L.I.M. (see example pictures)
  • Step #3: Take a picture of it! Then email it to Mrs. Williams at holly.williams@lutzprep.org.

We will make a large collection of everyone’s photographs for the display.  Thank you for helping!!

Lutz Prep PTA is excited to announce our participation in the National PTA Reflections program again this year. The 2018-2019 theme is: Heroes Around Me. For more information watch this video.

Box Top Campaign
Our Annual Box Tops drive is underway!  Please start clipping and collecting Box Tops.  This year each classroom has a collection goal of 1,800 Box Tops!  Classroom collections will be tallied monthly and for the classes that achieve their monthly goals they will be rewarded!  Stay tuned for more exciting contest details in the coming weeks!

You can find Box Tops on thousands of your favorite products, visit this LINK for a complete list of products -- then just clip, count, and send them in!  Over the past few years these little cardboard pieces have earned over $11,000 for our school!

Please follow these simple steps to help make our collection drive run smoothly:
  1. Neatly cut and sort your Box Tops and place into baggies or print a fun collection sheet from HERE and adhere the Box Tops.
  2. Place your child's name and homeroom teacher's name on the baggie or collection sheet so that he/she receives credit.
  3. Baggies can be dropped off in the collection mailbox in the front lobby or with your homeroom teacher.

***Don’t forget to download the Bonus Box Tops app to earn even more Box Tops digitally!***
Box Tops for Education has rolled out a new app for your Smartphone or Apple device. It allows our school to earn BONUS Box Tops for items you already buy with the on-package Box Tops.  Check the app often as the offers change weekly!

It only takes a few minutes to download the app and create an account which allows you to automatically add bonus Box Tops to our school with just a picture of your receipt.  Screen shot or forward the email you receive from the Box Tops Bonus App showing the Receipt ID and the amounts earned and then email to LutzPrepBoxTops@aol.com along with your child’s homeroom teachers name so that they can receive Box Tops credit for their class!

Bonus Box Tops = More Money for Our School!  Thank you for helping out Lutz Prep!!
If you have any questions, please contact Natacha Sanderson or Nicole Trailer at LutzPrepBoxTops@aol.com

Odyssey of the Mind - Middle School Club 6-8th Only - TODAY IS THE FINAL DAY TO SIGN UP!
The mission of Creative Competitions, Inc. is to provide creative problem-solving opportunities for everyone and to foster original and divergent thinking. Through the Odyssey of the Mind program, we promote creativity by challenging teams to solve divergent problems, that is, those with more than one solution. By working in teams, participants learn teamwork, the appreciation and understanding of others, and that a group is a more powerful thinking force than an individual. They develop a sense of self-respect and respect for others through preparatory activities such as brainstorming and role playing.

  • Click HERE for more information and to sign up for the teams by Friday, October 19th.
  • Once you have signed up, please visit the LP School Store to secure your spot on the team.

Important Reminder Information From the Clinic

Tips to follow in order to help keep Lutz Prep Students Healthy.

Lice facts:
  • By taking some precautions, you may be able to prevent your child from getting or spreading lice.
  • Check your child’s head every night. If lice are found begin treatment immediately.
  • Students should avoid sharing items that touch the head like combs, head bands, headphones, and hats.
  • Long hair should be kept up while in school.
  • Lutz Prep follows a no nit policy. If your student is found to have live lice or nits(eggs) they will need to be excluded from school until treated.
  • All students must be cleared by the school nurse before returning.
Cold/Flu:
  • If your child is sick with a cold or flu-like illness, stay home for at least 24 hours after your fever is gone. (The fever should be gone for 24 hours without the use of a fever-reducing medicine.)
  • The CDC recommends a yearly flu vaccine as the first and most important step in protecting against influenza (Flu) and its potentially serious complications.
Pink Eye (Conjunctivitis):
  • Symptoms: Red, watery eyes, itching or burning, pus, sensitivity to light, swollen eyelids.
  • Pink eye can be caused by bacteria or a virus and is highly contagious.
  • If your child is exhibiting signs and symptoms of pink eye, they MUST be excluded from school until you provide the following:
  • A physician statement indicating a non-contagious eye ailment.
  • Or 48 hours after treatment begins and there are no longer signs/symptoms.
If you have any questions please contact Nurse Kopp.
