We are excited to welcome Allan Arndt of the University of the Fraser Valley to the store on October 25 to share his story about completing the Nootka Trail this summer.

“This summer, a group of ten people with ties to the University of the Fraser Valley had an amazing opportunity to hike the Nootka Trail. Located on Nootka Island in the traditional territory of the Mowachaht and Muchalaht First Nations, the trail is 37 kilometers in length which we traversed in six days this past July. Mt. Waddington’s has asked us to share our stories and photos, and we would invite you to come join us on Thursday, October 25. There is a great deal of history and spectacular natural elements to be explored on this challenging journey. Please join us in revisiting our trip!”

MATCHSTICK PRODUCTIONS: ALL IN

Date: December 6, 2018
Time: 7:30 pm
Location: GW Graham Theater

ALL IN – Matchstick Productions 2018 epic ski film delivers a first of its kind experience. This concept is spearheaded by a talented group of hard-charging women who wanted to disrupt the male-dominated ski film formula. Skiing isn’t exclusionary, true fun in the mountains can be shared equally by everyone. This isn’t your typical “Women can shred too” film, this is a kick-ass ski film that just happens to feature as many women as men.

Directed by Scott Gaffney, this film will embody the spirit of past Matchstick films with high-action ski segments, visually stunning imagery and engaging humor. Shot in exotic locations over the course of 2018, ALL IN will excite skiers across the globe. Follow the crew from the lift-accessed terrain of Snowbird to the dreamworlds of Japan and Alaska amplified by a soundtrack that will be on everyone’s ski playlist next year. This film is light on story, high on action and full of fun loving personality. ALL IN is a reference to the commitment the athletes have to their sport while simultaneously alluding to the inclusionary nature of skiing.

Please purchase tickets in advance. Tickets are available here

Have you read Nate's story about hiking the HBC Heritage Trail this fall?

"Nate Lepp, our General Manager, recently completed a solo backpacking trek of the Hudson’s Bay Company Heritage Trail. Originally a network of trails used by First Nations (Sto:lo, Nlaka’pamux and Similkameen) for hunting and trade, in the mid 1800s it became an important route for the horse brigades bringing furs from the west coast on their way to markets in the east.  After being ‘rediscovered’ by Harley Hatfield in the 1960s, 70s and 80s it’s undergone restoration and upgrading as a recreational hiking trail over the past few years. We asked Nate to share a post about his experience."
