Today we can finally tell you about a new public art project we are working on. We are hugely excited to be able to present Ocean Store within the 2019 Performance Arcade.

This groundbreaking festival spreads along the Wellington waterfront and runs over two weekends, 21 Feb - 3 March, showcasing many incredible local and international artists. On Tuesday we went along to the launch event and the 2019 programme looks awesome. Mark it in your calendars!

Our project, Ocean Store, is our long anticipated work centred around the global oceans plastics issue. While the particulars of the project are still being worked out you can be assured it will be participatory, educational, emotive and daring.

One aspect of the work is encouraging others to join us in our regular beach cleans, so expect invitations to such events in the coming months. We have already started collecting ocean plastic from Wellington beaches and will need a good amount by Feb so any donations of interesting bits you've found are very welcome.

In related news this week's Art of the Week is our collection of Junk Bouquets from our project Black Flora back in 2012. We're making way for new junk so please consider taking some off our hands, see below.

Thanks for your continued attention and support. And, as always, get in touch if we can be of service.

Much love,

Art of the Week #14

Junk Bouquets

Part of our Black Flora installation in 2012 were these Junk Bouquets that decorated the face of the different caverns. We often joke that our work is actually future tech and these fit right into that category. They resemble gems from a future time when we’ll be mining precious plastic from rock. They are conglomerates of studio sweepings, bits n’ bobs, paper chads, crystals, toys, fake plants, electronic components et al. Each tells its own strange unique story.

We want to make room for our new Ocean Store junk works so please take some of these bite sized artworks off our hands. If you would like a collection of them, we can arrange a set price. Alternatively, if you are low waged and can’t afford this price, we are open to trades or exchanges of other kinds – get in touch! There are 64 in total and every one must go! Only $25 each.
