Charity appeal for furever home for rescue dog

A volunteer-run dog charity is appealing for a local home for one of their rescue dogs in need of a caring owner. 

Finding Furever Homes, who sponsor kennels near Shrewsbury, Shropshire, are calling on dog lovers in the surrounding areas to come forward and give Chica, one of their rescue dogs, a ‘furever’ home.

For the second year running Shrewsbury based Insurance Brokers Rees Astley sponsored the main music stage at Shropshire Oktoberfest held at the beginning of October.

Sometimes business insurance can seem like a jungle with potential pitfalls and problems around every corner, so that was our theme for the Rees Astley tent, which had been decked out with creepy crawlies, a zebra sofa, slime and an authentic jungle bridge - the Rees Astley Bush Tucker Trials!

Trampoline park to host The Harry Johnson Trust's 4th anniversary party with founders and supporters

A Shropshire charity set up to help children with cancer is celebrating its fourth anniversary with a trampoline party.

The free event in aid of The Harry Johnson Trust will be held from 6.30pm to 9pm on Tuesday, November 6, at Jump In Shrewsbury.

Trampoline park bosses chose the trust as their charity of the year and have been hosting various events to support their work.

University Centre Shrewsbury open day

Prospective students are being given the chance to experience what life would be like studying at University Centre Shrewsbury at a special event.

The University Centre’s open day will take place on Saturday October 20, when current students and staff will throw open the doors of the learning and research base at Guildhall, Frankwell Quay.

Anyone interested in studying courses starting next year is invited to attend.

Portuguese guitarist Vitor Pereira came to London in 2004 and has built an excellent reputation as an accomplished player and writer. His band of contemporary talent is an intriguing group with a strong, two saxophone lineup and well-delivered compositions, ranging from catchy, rock-like riffs to mesmerising melodic lines.

Pop in shop will showcase independent traders in Shropshire

Shoppers are being urged to drop into a new pop in shop in Shrewsbury that will be showcasing some of the county’s independent traders and crafters.

Food, gifts, art and jewellery will be on sale in the shop that will be open in the Darwin Shopping Centre for a week from October 23 to October 27.

The shop is a joint initiative between the Marches Growth Hub and Buy From Shropshire working with the Darwin and Pride Hill Shopping Centres to give a helping hand to new and smaller traders and help them reach new markets.

   It is inevitable that sooner or later you will ask. So, I will save you the trouble. A Rolls Royce Ghost EWB – that’s extended wheelbase incidentally – should you require or desire such a car, and in exactly the same specification as the one their rather lovely PR people loaned me recently, will set you back… £281,925. That’s excluding local taxes.

   How you might ask, can any car costing that much ever make sense? And, in certain circumstances, I might be inclined to agree with you.
