It's Funday Monday!

Last Friday, NYT columnist David Brooks wrote about our communities:

"Klinenberg’s new book, Palaces for the People, emphasizes the importance of “social infrastructure,” physical places like libraries where people can gather. What do libraries have to do with deaths in a heat wave? It turns out quite a lot. Libraries nurture relationships among people who check in on one another when crises hit."

We agree. At Friends of the Winthrop Library, we are building a library, and building a legacy to cultivate community, literacy and learning. Know anyone else who should join us as well? Send this mail along!

Dear friends,

Many thanks to one of our enthusiastic supporters for sending along the David Brooks piece from this past week about the critical importance of our public spaces in building resilience and empathy in community.

It's a great reminder of why so many of us are involved in and excited about this important project to build a library and build a legacy in our community. As you know, it's Funday Monday again (you know, the day that each gift of $10 or more supporting Friends of the Winthrop Public Library gives you the chance to win $500 to give to one or more Give Methow nonprofits!)

100% of your gift goes to support Friends of the Winthrop Library, supporting a public space for our children, our seniors, our entrepreneurs and technology workers, our families and more.

Thank you to those of you who have renewed your support, and those of you who are just joining us! The path toward a new library is incredibly exciting and we're glad to have you on board.

To that end: we've updated the date for our Hopes and Dreams conversation below: please put it on your calendar and plan to attend! Your generosity today and every day helps us work toward architectural schematics for our new community library!

Thank you for your gift today at GiveMethow.org.

In literacy,

Shannon Huffman Polson
Board Chair
