River Bend Quarterly Meeting - MONDAY, October 22nd

Please join us on Monday, October 22nd for our quarterly membership meeting. This meeting has been rescheduled to accommodate Beggar's Night on October 30th.

The meeting will begin at 7:00pm at the CFUM Future Site at 1604 6th Avenue.
We plan to discuss neighborhood updates.  Also, please come with dates in mind for our Annual Potluck and Board Elections in December.

Join the celebration on 6th Avenue between College and Washington Avenue between noon and 7pm TODAY for this free community event!  Celebrate the installation of new public art, enjoy a fantastic lineup of bands and community performances, kid's activities, and check out food vendors and the Barnum Art Bash.

LiveDSM Parks/Rec Comprehensive plan unveiling

What: Unveiling of Des Moines Parks and Recreation Comprehensive Plan
When: Tuesday, October 23th at 5PM 
Where: Richard A. Clark Municipal Service Center,  1551 E. MLK Jr Parkway

Learn more about the vision, goals, and ideas developed to guide Parks and Rec in Des Moines over the next 15-20 years.

Pillars of Promise Community Informational Meeting

When: Tuesday, October 23th at 6PM 
Where: North High School Auditorium, 501 Holcomb


Current plans for Pillars of Promise, the YMCA project, and a new community center in our neighborhood will be presented.  There will also be two visiting presenters: Art Erickson, CEO Urban Ventures, Minnesota and Dr. Myrie, Pediatric Surgeon at Mercy Medical Center- Gun Violence and its impacts on kids.

Bridging the Gap

What: City of Des Moines Civil & Human Rights Commission
When: Thursday, November 1st.  Drop in any time between 6-8pm
Where: John R. Grubb YMCA,  1611 11th St

Voice your opinion on ideas to increase economic opportunity, reduce violence, and strengthen community-government relations at this free event.  Appetizers will be served.

River Bend Mission: The River Bend Neighborhood Association is a non-profit organization dedicated to improving the quality of life, sense of community, and pride in our urban neighborhood.  River Bend provides resources for special events and activities that promote community involvement, appreciation of diversity, education and safety, architectural preservation and restoration, small business opportunities, and effective communication.
