Everything Old is New Again... and Again!

Back in the Pacific Northwest - Fall & Rolo at Green Lake

Before we get into the update, I'd like to say hello and apologize for being off the grid for so long. I'd also like to say welcome to what is hopefully the first of many 'Easy Like Sunday Morning' updates.  The idea is to drop an update into your inbox at least once a month on a Sunday that hopefully has a piece of content you find inspiring, helps you grow personally/professionally/physically or reminds all of us how to be more mindful and grateful.  Of course, you can unsubscribe at any time but I hope there's always at least one nugget of value for you.  Here we go with the update or you can scroll to the bottom and catch this month's 'Show and Tell' for the resources.  This month's 'Inspiration' is one of my all-time favorites and reminds me of the amazing Kyle Maynard...
------------
It's often funny how life works and where the ride will take you. Whether that be on a spiritual, physical, professional or geographical journey - or sometimes all of the above! In a very short amount of time, roughly 2 years, I believe I have been lead down a path that has allowed me to explore all of those places! And if we back up 4 years, you could say that everything old, is new again since I now find myself back in a very familiar place... Seattle, WA.

In a great and crazy twist of fate, I've been lead back to Seattle and am super happy to be back in the Pacific Northwest. While I had an amazing experience in Tempe, AZ, I always knew that I wanted to get back to the PNW. However, what I didn't know was how fast the opportunity was going to be presented to me.

The move to Tempe was a great experience and gave me the opportunity to work at the Executive Leadership Level for a technology startup. It was a big risk and brought big lessons in entrepreneurship, team building, company building
and personal growth. And while it didn't work out as I had hoped, I don't regret the choice AT ALL and am so thankful for the opportunity, the new lifetime friends I made and the old friends I was able to re-connect with. The experience was more than I could have ever imagined and one that I will be forever grateful for.

And yet, there were some things missing - namely family, friends and the geography that I love so much. I wanted to be closer to family and friends and, what can I say, I like winter and even the rain and grey of Seattle
. So when Amazon called and asked if I was in the market for a new opportunity, it was a knock on the door that I couldn't pass up. So after a 3-month process, I have landed in a place that will challenge me to grow, learn and lead inside a company that is out to change the world... and I hope to be a small part of that experience.

So for those of you familiar with Amazon Web Services (AWS), that's where I have landed as a Sr. Program Manager in S3 (Simple Storage Solution - but trust me, there is nothing simple about it!). And for those of you that don't know AWS or S3, every time you look at a picture on AirBnB or watch a movie on Netflix, they are both stored in the cloud on the S3 service. More about S3 can be found here.

In addition to working in Seattle with Rolo (Amazon is a dog-friendly workplace), we're back in our favorite area - Green Lake. We're in a great house (below) just a few blocks from the Lake and all the great things that come in that neighborhood. There's also a full guest room & bathroom for your next visit to the PNW! So please start making plans now! :-)

So that's the latest news!  Now that we're settled, I'm sure you'll be seeing a few more pictures of me, or more likely Rolo, enjoying our new home.

I hope this finds you well and living a wonderful, big, full, challenging and amazing life. If you're so inclined I have two asks...

1 - MOST IMPORTANTLY - Would you please UPDATE YOUR CONTACT INFORMATION for me here?! For a lot of you, I only have an email address but I would really like to update my contacts and maybe even be able to send an old-school letter, birthday or Christmas card. It will only take a couple of minutes, I promise!

2 - If you're so inclined, hit reply and let me know how you are doing and what's new in your life! I'd love to hear.

Hope to hear from you soon...

Jack & Rolo

Inspiration:

You don't have to be an athlete or runner to appreciate watching dreams come true. If you're going to click one thing, maybe it should be this. (Once you've clicked the image, come back and watch the back story here.)

Health:

In addition to running and CrossFit, I've been working on Meal Prep and other fun daily/weekly habits to get back in shape. The Onnnit products have been awesome - especially the compression wear, Strength & Performance and Alpha Brain.
