PDX Spinsters is a brand new spinning group open to spinners of all abilities. Bring your wheel or drop spindle and fiber (or get some fiber here at Fiber Rhythm).
Meetings are the 1st and 3rd Sundays of the month and go from 2 to 4pm. Spinners meet at Fiber Rhythm in the front classroom area.

Textile Month continues!
Our next workshop for Portland Textile Month is the Hat Design Workshop taught by Theressa Silver. Author of Hat Couture and Knitting Wild. This workshop will be held, Sunday, October 28th from 12:30 to 3:30pm. ($75)

Double Knitting Basics Saturday, October 27th, 11:30-1:30.
This 2 hour class you will cover all the basics of double knitting including two color cast on and bind off, an easy technique for tidy edges, how to read the charts, and tips for yarn management. The heart chart provided in class can be used to create a coaster or repeat the motif to make a scarf. ($40)
Mastering Short Rows Saturday, October 27th, 2-4pm
Short rows are a wonderful shaping tool but can be really frustrating if the end product has gaps, twisted stitches, or funny bits of crossing yarn. In this 2 hour class you will learn everything you need to work flawless short rows. We will cover the traditional “wrap and turn” method as well as German short rows, an alternative method using yarn overs that keeps the extra yarn on the needle making it more visible and easier to work correctly, resulting in perfect short rows. ($40)
Yarn 101 Saturday, October 27th, 4:30-6pm
This class will cover everything you need to know to successfully combine yarn, pattern, and needles to create finished items that you’ll be proud of. The class will explore gauge and the wide range of yarns available in the shop, We’ll discuss different fibers, plied yarns vs singles, superwash, “thick and thin” yarns, and other specialty yarns. ($30)
Mastering Cables Sunday, October 28th, 4-6 pm
This class is a sampler pack of all sorts of cables. We'll start with the basics and work our way through an assortment of variations and combinations. By the end of class students will have the skills needed to understand how to read cable instructions and work just about any combination out there. Students can either work swatches or combine the cables into the start of a scarf. ($40)
