Dear Families,

Upper Mississippi Academy’s sixth year is going great. This is a milestone year for UMA as we plan and prepare to move into a larger space that allows us to better fulfill our mission. We will be able to share more detailed information soon!

As we enter this next phase, we need your help in the following ways:

First, we need ambassadors to promote our school to neighbors, colleagues, and other potential new families as we work to grow our school to 425 students. Our first information session of the year is this Thursday, October 25 and there are more scheduled each month. You can help...

  • Tell your friends and neighbors about UMA.
  • Share our facebook posts and invite your friends to "like" our page.
  • Direct people to get more information on our website.
  • Contact me about posting flyers at coffee shops, libraries, community centers, and other spaces.
  • Let me know if you are willing to host a get-together. UMA staff would be thrilled to come to your house to talk about our school in a more intimate surrounding. We will bring treats!
  • Send me testimonials about what makes UMA special to you and your student.

Second, we aim to raise $35,000 this year for funds that relate to the move including the acquisition of furniture and materials for our new space. Give to the Max is Thursday, November 15. Upper Mississippi Academy is challenging you and all UMA supporters to give generously toward reaching our 2018-19 campaign goal during GiveMN’s either on Give to the Max Day or during the eight giving days leading up to the big day. With your gift, you will positively impact the experiences we give our students at UMA. You can even schedule your gift now so you don't forget! Tell your friends, family, and others about giving to UMA during this time as well.

Thank you for your continued support and involvement as part of the UMA community!

Fall Art Crawl Success!

A huge THANK YOU to all artists who participated in the Fall St. Paul Art Crawl on October 12 and 13. We had a record number of artists participate—so awesome! Thanks also goes out to all staff, students, family, and community members who stopped by to support our courageous artists.

We had a great time and are already looking ahead to April for the second Art Crawl of the year! Registration begins after the start of the new year, but don’t wait to start creating! April 2019 is going to be the best UMA ART CRAWL ever!

We are so proud of you all!
Ms. J. and Mr. Nagel
