Film Screening - "Paths of the Soul"
Participants are invited to attend a screening of "Paths of the Soul" on Thursday, October 25, at 7 pm.
“Paths of the Soul” is about Tibetan mountain villagers who are determined, against all odds, to make a year-long, 1,200-mile “bowing pilgrimage” to the holy capital of Lhasa. Although “kowtowing” forms a repetitive theme, several dramatic episodes vitalize the pace, and it's a rare privilege to witness this isolated culture. The cinematography is beautiful, the tone serene, and the mutual support of these travelers deeply moving.
Tom Burton has generously offered his home to host the screening (802 East McHenry, Urbana). Please email Betsy Hearne (ehearne@illinois.edu) if you plan to attend. Small snacks to share during our discussion afterwards are welcome.
