Ben Franklin is excited to host award-winning author Linda Ragsdale on the morning of October 18th  from 10:30-11:25  to speak to the kindergarten through second grade classes about her career, her books, and spreading the message of peace. All families are welcome to purchase personalized copies of her books on the web store or by completing the attached form and submitting it to the office prior to October 18th.

Families of afternoon kindergarten students - your students are welcome to attend the event accompanied by a responsible parent or guardian that will stay for the event and will need to sign in at the office. Please contact Mandy Pope for more details or with questions about this event.

Monday, October 15th is the deadline to bring in Box Tops for the October mini prize... each student from the winning class will win a raffle ticket to Pumpkin Fest! Simply send your box tops in a ziplock bag or attached to a collection form included here.  Each box top collected is money for our school!

Cooks night off! On Wednesday, October 17th from 4-10 pm, mention Ben Franklin when you dine-in, pick-up or order delivery from Barone's of Glen Ellyn. The PTA will earn a percentage back on all orders that day, excluding alcohol. If ordering online, include Ben Franklin in the instructions. 

We will be collecting outerwear for D41 families in need before and after school this week (Oct. 15-19.) A donation bin will be located by the front office.

Ben Franklin's 5th Grade Ambassadors will be hosting our Veteran's Day Assembly on Friday, November 9, 2018. All students are encouraged to invite a relative or friend of the family who has served in the United States Military.  Print an invitation from our 5th grade ambassadors to your veteran here.

A video montage honoring those who served our country will play during the assembly. We welcome photos of Veterans who can attend and those who are unable to make the date but are there in spirit. We can accept electronic or printed images. We will be returning the photos to the families, but please submit a copied photograph (we do not want to be responsible for original photos), remembering to include child's name, grade and AM teacher.  Electronic photos can be sent to Julie Dupuy or hard copies can be submitted to the office. 

Another option to honor a loved one who served or is currently serving in the military is to color and submit a "Veteran's Day Heart". Please write your honoree's name on the line below the heart and return it to the office. The hearts will be prominently displayed during the assembly. Print your Veteran's Day Heart here.

Please submit all photos & Veteran's Day Hearts to the school office by Friday, October 26.

Students (and their families) are invited to showcase a Literary Pumpkin to celebrate Literacy and Halloween! Simply decorate a smaller-size pumpkin or gourd as your favorite literary character. Bring your pumpkin and completed form to school on Monday, October 22nd. Treat bags with a $1-off Book Fair Coupon will be given to all participants. Volunteers to assist with pumpkin drop off are needed to make this event a success. Contact Diana Laufenberg if you'd like to help out. 

Friday, October 26th from 5:30-8:00pm, one of the most anticipated and exciting PTA run fundraisers will happen again at Ben Franklin- Pumpkin Fest!!!  The night will bring bounce houses, obstacle courses, face painting, games, raffles, prizes, bingo, cakewalk and more! 

Purchase your wristband in advance for a pre-order savings of $5 and 2 for $1 raffle tickets. Advance meal tickets are also available.  All tickets can be purchased on PTA Webstore.

This event cannot run without VOLUNTEERS !! Please volunteer for a time slot to help with games, concessions, admissions, etc. here
