Travel

Long Weekend: Ireland

One of the most popular Harlaxton-organized trips of the semester, several students traveled to Ireland. Part of the trip included a coach tour that went to the Giant's Causeway, the Cliffs of Moher and the city of Belfast!

Nottingham

A group of over 40 students and faculty members traveled to Nottingham to attend a Notts County Football Club match in Meadow Lane Stadium. Not only was the game exciting to watch, as it was many of the attendees' first English football match, but Notts County took the win against Crawley town with a 3-1 score!

North Wales
Being one of the four countries that comprises the United Kingdom, the Harlaxton trip to North Wales was largely fun and exciting! As one of the only parts of the UK where the Welsh language is still alive and well, North Wales is a region steeped in rich culture and history. Not only that, but it is also home to many castles from the 12th and 13th centuries, a great deal of which serving as the battlegrounds to the battles between the Princes of Gwynedd against King John and King Edward I.

Lake District

Home to literary legends Beatrix Potter and William Wordsworth, our students visited the town of Ambleside in the Lake District. Though it was a rainy weekend, our students were not discouraged from their thirst for adventure with most of them going on hikes through the storm! Not only that, but afterward, they were able to take a dip in the water of the Lake District to enjoy a refreshing cold swim!

York
A day trip to the ancient Roman city of York, students browsed Shambles Street lined with timber-framed houses and shops, toured the York Minster at the city center, and sipped tea at Betty's Cafe Tea Room. Many students also toured the York Castle, established by William the Conqueror in 1068.

The Manor

Afternoon Tea
Students gathered in the Great Hall to enjoy delicious pastries, biscuits and some refreshing tea! It was a relaxing evening enjoyed by many amongst great company.

The Community

Benton Jones Garden Dedication
The Benton Jones Garden was officially dedicated and named in honor of Margaret, Lady Benton Jones, OBE (pictured below) and her late husband Sir Simon Benton Jones in recognition of their great contribution and service on the Harlaxton Advisory Council. As one of the most beautiful and relaxing parts of the manor, the garden will continue to be valued as an immensely favored location by all.
