PWRDF Ride for Refuge another success!
On Saturday, September 29, something wonderful happened. They came and they rode. Alone and in tandem. From coast to coast, volunteers rolled and walked along scenic roads and paths; Diocesan Representatives and Board members rode to nowhere on stationary bikes at the PWRDF National Gathering in Toronto. Early on Saturday morning, before PWRDF’s annual general meeting, volunteers even walked the neighbourhood of the Hilton Doubletree Airport Hotel in Toronto.

The Mardi Club, St. Matthew’s Cathedral, Brandon, Manitoba

When the 2017 World of Gifts catalogue came out last year, the bore-hole well challenge intrigued the parish Mardi Club (the women of St. Matthew’s Cathedreal who are always on call for receptions and lunches and all sorts of catering within the parish). In December, they directed their annual ‘charity gift’ towards the start of a PWRDF bore-hole well, thus Challenge H2Oh was initiated. From January to the end of Easter, the bore-hole went deeper and deeper until one well was drilled and a second half-drilled. The monies came from individual gifts, Lenten lunches and the Sunday Coffee Cup. From time to time inserts were placed in the Sunday leaflet, not only to update the well progression but to inform the parishioners about the need for clean and safe water in the developing world.

PWRDF Parish Representative Doreen Conlin wrote, “On behalf of the efforts of St. Matthew’s Cathedral people I am pleased to enclose a cheque for $3,000 for ‘Wells’, sent with our love and blessing to those who will benefit from a well in their community.”
