Announcements
New opportunities for graduate studies in Health Promotion and Health Behavior at Oregon State University

The Health Promotion and Health Behavior program at Oregon State University offers new and exciting opportunities for graduate studies, as part of Oregon’s first accredited College of Public Health and Human Sciences. Our research portfolio spans social, cultural, and healthcare factors contributing to health disparities; social determinants of health; sexual and reproductive health; HIV/STI prevention; tobacco prevention and cessation; nutrition, physical activity; bone and body composition; cancer screening and survivorship. We conduct basic (etiology) research, intervention research, and research on the translation of public health programs to real world settings. We have excellent opportunities for doctoral students and a strong history of funding students. Most students are funded through teaching or graduate research assistantships, which include tuition remission and a stipend. Recent graduates have gone on to prestigious post-doctoral positions, tenure-track faculty positions, and roles in industry and departments of public health. We would be delighted to hear from students who are considering pursuing doctoral level graduate work in public health.

Dissemination Strategies for Health Services Researchers

On October 15, 2018, 1:00 – 2:00 pm ET, Dr. Rani Elwy presented Dissemination Strategies for Health Services Researchers. Many effective programs emerging from research fail to have a significant impact on population health because no plans are made to disseminate these programs to agencies and organizations that can use them. In this cyberseminar, the presenter discussed the science of dissemination, described evidence-based dissemination strategies, covered important dissemination lessons learned by researchers in this area, discussed current dissemination practices and available tools, and provided examples of how to measure dissemination impact.

This session was recorded and made available online.
