Dear Wayfarers,

I hope the rain today hasn't dampened too many spirits, but if it has then here is another Wayfarers Weekly to restore your faith in humanity (I know that this is the highlight of your week). Last Thursday, a hardy bunch of Wayfarers bravely journeyed into the wilds of Digbeth. We headed to play some golf and it was a great success! I hope everyone who went enjoyed the cocktails as much as I did! Now read on one and all because I have an email-load of information for you.

Brecon Beacons
26/10 - 28/10

Please note: This trip is now full. However, you can still come to the sign-ups to be put on the reserve list.

For our first weekend trip of the winter term, we will be heading to the beautiful Brecon Beacons in the South of Wales. The Brecon Beacons is a mountain range which includes South Wales' highest mountain, Pen y Fan.

We will be staying in Godre Pentre; a bunkhouse that includes showers, a drying room, and a fire!! It's wonderfully located for lots of brilliant walking.

If you want to come along, please come along to the sign-up sessions.

What to bring:

Sturdy, comfortable walking shoes (that you don't mind getting muddy)
Lightweight trousers (definitely not jeans!)
Jumper and/or other layers
Waterproof coat and trousers
Packed lunch and water for both days of walking
Cash for emergencies
A rucksack to carry it all in
Extra clothes for both days of walking
Sleeping bag and roll mat
Wash kit, etc

Super Spooky Halloween Social

CORRECTION: We will be getting the 17:56 train NOT the 18:56 train!!!!

This year we are offering an exciting and spooky Halloween social!
We shall take to the Malverns where we will hear a tale of horror and perhaps encounter some the Ghosts that haunt the hills as we follow the path of the teeth-chattering story. Prepare for spooks a-plenty and prepare yourself for you may never be the same again.

We will meet at the Faraday Statue at 17:40 to get the 17:56 train to Great Malvern. Make sure you have bought a return ticket from New Street to Great Malvern before you arrive please! We will be returning from Great Malvern to New Street and we may find ourselves in Spoons before heading home!

Sign ups
To come to a walk, you need to sign up. Sometimes this can be done online, but often (especially when payments are needed) you need to come to one of our sign up sessions in the Guild of Students, as listed in the right-hand column of the Weekly. If you can't come to a signup, you can send someone else. Every person can sign up for one place.
If the limited places on the trip are taken, you can be put on the reserve list. If someone drops out, the people on the reserve list are contacted in order of signing up. Unless it's a last-minute drop out, then everybody will be contacted at the same time and the first person who replies gets the place.
If you drop out, you will only get refunded if your place can be taken by a reserve candidate.

Membership
For all our walks you will need to become a member of the Wayfarers. We are one of the cheapest sports societies with membership for the year being only 9 pounds, which gives you access to all of our trips and social events throughout the year!

You can become a member of the Wayfarers through our website, the link to our website can be found at the bottom of this email. Click on the 'Become a member' button, follow the instructions and hey presto you're a Wayfarer!
