EMI: Movement Matters
Tomorrow, Oct. 25 (5:45-7pm)

Everyday Magic invites the Lakeshore Community to join us for a very important program on Thursday, October 25 from 5:45-7:00pm. Childcare and dinner will be provided.

The Important Relationship between Motor Skills and Academic Performance
Is it possible to support your child's memory, mood, intelligence quotient, and ability to plug into reading, writing, and math all at the same time? YES! Movement is the key.

Our brains are built for movement and movement helps brains grow. Come learn about this fascinating relationship and sensorimotor developments of our children. You will go home with recommendations for fostering your child's gross and fine motor skills as well as sensory processing components that serve as the foundation to these functions. This presentation is offered by a seasoned Pediatric Occupational Therapist and there will be a Q&A session.
LAKESHORE IS DANCING!
Annual Giving Campaign Dance Party this Friday
To celebrate the school’s success in crushing our Annual Giving Campaign goal, we’re holding our school-wide prize, a dance party, on the top yard on Friday, October 26. Classes will dance in two shifts:
• K-2  1:40-2:25pm
• 3-5  2:35-3:20pm

Can you help with easy setup at 12:40pm and cleanup at 3:20pm? Email pta@LakeshoreElementary.org. We need help with bubble stations and DJ area. Thank you!
Thank You Corner:
PTA Fest, Autumn Work Day, Annual Giving Campaign

1) Special thanks to the PTA Fest committee members and parent volunteers - Martha Luna, Jean Moshofsky (formerly known as Jean Butler) Sharon Collins, Marlene Bazdarich, Terri Klein, Cynthia Quan, Harper Honan, Amy MacWilliamson, and Karen Baksi who put together another successful PTA Fest this year!

Our Kindergarten and 1st Grade teachers - Ms. Angela, Ms. Jordan, Ms. Fernandez, Ms. Tyler, Ms. Hopper, and Mrs. Wu volunteered to serve soup throughout the event. Many thanks to Everyday Magic staff for helping with set-up/clean-up. Lowell students also came to decorate and set-up dessert trays.

2) Thank you to Ms. Luna, Amy MacWillimason, all parents and students (and grandmothers) who made it out to the Autumn Work Day last Saturday! Trees and plants got watered, garden shed got organized, the Brazilian Honeysuckle received a new planter, musical garden got weeded, new succulents were planted, many areas were given a fresh bed of wood chips, and we even had two power washers going at once! Thank you for all your efforts. The school is more beautiful because of you.

3) Final thanks to the dozens of people who made the Annual Giving Campaign possible. Check out how your fellow parents helped and see the trends in our donors and participants.
Halloween Scare-dule:
Volunteers Needed!

TUESDAY, October 30
3:30pm onward
We need volunteers to help set up our freaky fest in the Community Room. No experience needed. Kids welcome.

WEDNESDAY, October 31
10-10:30am
Join us for the Lakeshore Halloween parade! Lowell's Orchestra will be onsite to play Halloween music while the kids strut their stuff. Remember, please leave any costume weapons at home.

11am-2:30pm
Haunted Festival activities in the Community Room happen most of the day. We need families and friends to make this event happen.
● Need minimum of 6 people at all times to staff the event. Students enjoy the activities in 15-minute shifts from 11-2:30pm
● Face painters - No artistic skills needed! Make a Leopard smile!
● Breakdown - It doesn't take long with enough volunteers. Even though the sign-up list is filled, we can always use more hands to make sure we complete before dismissal!

To help, please sign up online at bit.ly/ls18hlw or email halloween@LakeshoreElementary.org.
