IT'S A PARTY
Boston Emissions TEN.

I look forward to celebrating my 10 years as host of Boston Emissions. This Thursday, October 18, at ONCE Somerville, join me as I mark this occasion. Boston Emissions carries on and ONCE is open again. There is a lot to celebrate. Exciting things are happening. More on that soon.

Maybe I have helped you, played you, booked you, and supported you over these years, whatever the case, it would be great to see you. I am planning a live broadcast of Boston Emissions, Boston Rock DJ set, and live performances from
Parlour Bells | Stars Like Ours | Exit 18 + Photobooth by DWJ Creative.

EXIT 18
A 5 piece rock band from Beverly, Massachusetts, Exit 18 formed when songwriters Julia Perry and Sean Leahy met in 2013. Julia's emotive vocals and dynamic, often dark personality matched with Sean's guitar style and knack for harmonies make for the blueprint of Exit 18. An amazing live band, their sound blends My Chemical Romance and Paramore while also bringing back the classic rock sounds of the Beatles and Fleetwood Mac. In 2017, they released 'I Don't Need It' and played shows from the Middle East and The Hard Rock Cafe in Boston to Pianos and Arlene's Grocery in New York City. Earlier this year, 'All Yours' and 'Control the Mass' were released and received substantial local airplay. Check out their latest release, 'You Can't Trust the Summer' and 'Broken Bones' which will also appear on their upcoming EP.

STARS LIKE OURS
One of the signature staples of Stars Like Ours is a ’90s-influenced sound that blends guitar-heavy rock with a pop sensibility. Inspired by bands like Sugar, The Amps, Superchunk, Dinosaur Jr., and The Breeders, longtime friends Michelle Paulhus (The Dents, The Marvels, The Real Kids, Andrea Gillis Band) and Kristin Holliday (DRAGO, The Blue Bloods, Full Body Anchor) got together in 2014 and started writing songs, enlisting the help of Rice Edmonston (Darkbuster, Mill Pond Falls, Abbie Barrett) on drums. In the short time they’ve been together, Stars Like Ours has shared the bill with a number of notable acts, including legendary rock band L7 and The World/Inferno Friendship Society, and has performed at various festivals, including HarpoonFest and Somerville ArtBeat. In 2017, the band reached the semifinals in Boston’s longstanding Rock & Roll Rumble. Stars Like Ours have been credited as having a solid, tight live set with comical, witty banter, which keeps fans returning to see their shows again and again. Music is available for streaming on Spotify and for purchase on Bandcamp.
PARLOUR BELLS
Parlour Bells most recent release, Waylaid in the Melee, tackles the headlines head first. On “Sanctuary Cities,” band leader and front person, Goddamn Glenn sings, “You don’t buy your steaks at Sharper Image, you don’t pick your presidents from Fifth Avenue.” Brimming with resistance, Waylaid is one of the most politically charged records to come out of the city in the 2017 calendar year. The band’s tenure has seen them warming up for Culture Club at Blue Hills Bank Pavilion in Boston, nominated as Live Artist of the Year by the Boston Music Awards, named one of Improper Bostonian magazine’s Boston's Ten Top Local Acts, and nominated for a Boston Music Award for Video of the Year for “Bachelor Hours.” The band was humbled to receive a nod by Jane’s Addiction’s Dave Navarro, who personally tweeted his approval of Parlour Bells' cover classic of Jane’s tune, “Classic Girl” to his followers. Parlour Bells remain one Boston most dynamic live acts.
