Health and care system to join ‘vital’ collaboration push

Quality Matters, is an initiative aimed at improving adult social care that is co-led by partners from across the sector and supports improvements across the system. The new digital resource NICE developed, ‘Unlocking capacity: smarter together’  is inspiring local organisations and system leaders to work collaboratively to deliver person-centred care. The free online resource features successful examples of collaborative working, including an animation to help people better understand and navigate adult social care services at a local level.

As a member, NICE has developed some key tools, including the  NICE guidance and quality standards relevant to the Care Quality Commission’s inspection framework to help people improve the care they deliver.

Gillian Leng, Deputy Chief Executive and Director of Health and Social Care at NICE, said: “Local leaders have a crucial role to play in making this happen and our new Quality Matters resource will help them take vital steps to work innovatively and collaboratively to improve the quality of care and support.”

NICE to retire its guidance app on 31 December 2018

Following a comprehensive internal review, a decision has been made to retire the app with users encouraged to access the NICE website via their mobiles and tablets instead. A survey NICE carried out among app users found that browsing, searching and navigating NICE guidance were the main reasons for using the app. All of these functions can easily be done on the NICE site.

Using the website rather than the app will ensure that the most up to date recommendations are used. Until the app is retired, users are urged to regularly update content on the app to ensure they are getting the most up-to-date information.

Following improved access and optimisation of the website, the NICE guidance app will no longer be available for download after 31 December 2018.
