Alison Anderson, P.Eng. Joined YWWOP on October 1st as the program's new full time Instructor/Coordinator. During the past year, Alison worked at Yukon College's Cold Climate Innovation. Prior to joining Yukon College, she worked for five years at Opus International Consultants in Whitehorse, designing and supporting the operations of water treatment systems across the Yukon.
The Municipal Water and Waste Management Labour Market Study completed in 2010 by the Environmental Careers Organisation (ECO) [1] found that municipalities across Canada feel there are significant skill gaps within the municipal water/wastewater treatment labour market. In particular, there are gaps in computer skills and 'soft' skills such as communication skills.
