YWWOP has a new Instructor/Coordinator!

Alison Anderson, P.Eng. Joined YWWOP on October 1st as the program's new full time Instructor/Coordinator. During the past year, Alison worked at Yukon College's Cold Climate Innovation. Prior to joining Yukon College, she worked for five years at Opus International Consultants in Whitehorse, designing and supporting the operations of water treatment systems across the Yukon.

Did you know?

The Municipal Water and Waste Management Labour Market Study completed in 2010 by the Environmental Careers Organisation (ECO) [1] found that municipalities across Canada feel there are significant skill gaps within the municipal water/wastewater treatment labour market. In particular, there are gaps in computer skills and 'soft' skills such as communication skills.

Gain these valuable skills through our related continuing education courses this fall:

Exam Preparation Courses:
*Related certification exam will occur immediately following course completion, register for exams through EOCP  

Continuing Education Courses:

Our winter 2019 course offerings will be announced soon.
 
Financial Support exists for participating in YWWOP classes. Visit YWWOP webpage (Money Matters) or click here for more info.

For instance:
- The Community Training Trust Fund can support Yukon Staff and elected Officials of Municipal and First Nation Governments and local Advisory groups.
- Regional Community Training Funds can support rural Yukon Individuals –employed or unemployed.
- Crown-Indigenous Relations and Northern Affairs (CIRNA) can support Canadian Indigenous Governments and Individuals –employed or unemployed.
- Government of Canada’s Aboriginal Skills and Employment Training Strategy (ASETS) can support currently unemployed Canadian Indigenous Individuals.
- The Environmental Operator Certification Program (EOCP) can support Canadian Individuals.
- The Northern Territories Water and Waste Association (NTWWA) can support Northwest Territories and Nunavut Individuals and Community groups.

YWWOP classes and EOCP exam sessions can be facilitated at any Yukon College community campus or surrounding NWT and Northern BC communities on an on-demand basis. Alternatively, YWWOP classes are available through web-conferencing.
