Council News
Council Briefs:

Last week Wednesday council had a special meeting for the purpose of discerning the call of Noah and Kristen Livingston. After much positive and meaningful discussion, the council voted on and unanimously approved the following motion:

“The Council of the Ann Arbor Christian Reformed Church moves to call Noah Livingston as the Pastor of Worship Arts and Kristen Livingston as the Pastor of Congregational Care and amend the budget for the 18-19 FY by $65,486. In addition, we approve the financial package and benefits laid out in the draft call letter.”

On October 28th, the congregation will meet to vote on the call.

Council Announcement:

The Council and Hiring Team invites you to attend one of two information sessions before we have the congregational vote on October 28th. The budget implications and other important items will be discussed, and the content of each of these two meetings will be the same but held at different dates so hopefully all who want to can attend.

Session One: Wednesday, October 17, 7:30 PM
Session Two: Sunday, October 21, 7:00 PM

We’re hoping that the space provided on the 17th& 21st will allow for prayerful discernment that leads to a place of decision making on October 28th. Come and ask your questions and hear what Council has heard that has led them to enthusiastically recommend the Livingstons for a call.
Council Financial Update:

CAP Thanksgiving Basket Time!

Option 1 (Due by Sunday, November 18):
It's that time of year! We once again have the opportunity to be a blessing in our community by providing holiday meal baskets to those in need in the Detroit area through the Community Assistance Program (CAP). If you want to get a jump on purchasing the food items, click here for the list and details.  A bulletin insert will also be coming soon with details and basket collection dates.

New this year! Option 2 (Due by Sunday, November 4):
If you desire to contribute to the CAP meal service opportunity but doing the shopping is not feasible, the Roots students are happy to announce that they will do that part for you! All you need to do is provide a donation of $55 ($30 for items plus $25 for a turkey) for each basket you wish to donate.  The check should be made out to CAP and “CAP Thanksgiving Basket” should be in the memo line. These donations must be received by Sunday, November 4 to allow time for the Roots students to perform the necessary shopping and bagging.  The checks can be added to the usual Sunday collections or delivered to the church office.

Help us reach our goal of 150 Thanksgiving Baskets for CAP this year!

Have you seen the orange fish?

Our students are collecting their Sunday school tithe for World Renew's Passion Project, BEE-A Life Changer (https://www.myworldrenew.net/beealifechanger).  Our goal is to raise $200.  The students may turn in their collection at the beginning of Sunday school on Sunday, October 21.  Please bring the coins or bills collected in an envelope or Ziploc bag labeled BEE collection and list the amount enclosed.  Do not bring in "the fish".  Thank you for your support.
