RECC Fall Fest and All-Church Potluck

Join us on Sunday, October 28 at 10:15am for our Sunday morning Fall Fest Worship Service and all-church potluck. This year the Missions and Outreach Board has chosen to support three projects - one at the local level, one at the regional level, and one at the international level.

Our Local Project: The Roseau Food Shelf
We will be collecting non-perishable food items for the Roseau Food Shelf. Please bring your donations of canned goods, pasta, peanut butter, cereal or boxed meals and place them at the front of the sanctuary the morning of Fall Fest.

Our Regional Project: The Northwest Conference
The Missions and Outreach Board is pleased to support the pastoral care ministry of the Northwest Conference. The Northwest Conference is committed to supporting and developing pastors. Studies show that anywhere from 50% to 80% of pastors leave the ministry within 5 years of completing seminary. In order to encourage pastors, the Northwest Conference provides resources and connections to support them in ministry. For more info, click HERE.

Our International Project: Slavic Gospel Association
The Missions and Outreach Board is also pleased to support the ministry of Slavic Gospel Association. Guest speaker Alex Pashkovets will be joining us to share about how SGA is reaching the people of the former Soviet Union for Jesus Christ.

SGA was founded in 1934 by Pastor Peter Deyneka, a refugee from Belarus with a passion to reach his people with the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Under Stalin’s Iron Curtain, Pastor Deyneka, along with a small group of Christian businessmen from Chicago, raised funds to smuggle millions of Bibles into the countries of the former Soviet Union. They also produced thousands of Christian radio programs that were broadcasted over Soviet airwaves.

In 1989, two years after Pastor Deyneka’s passing, the Lord answered his lifelong prayer, and the Iron Curtain came crashing down. SGA leadership immediately seized the unprecedented new opportunities for reaching the people of the former Soviet Union for the glory of Christ. SGA has grown to become an international ministry with autonomous offices in Australia, New Zealand, Canada, and England.

The ministry of SGA is four-fold:
  1.  SGA shares the Gospel by connecting North American Christians — like you — with individual national church-planting missionaries, and helps to send them out to live, work, and proclaim the Gospel. They have a tremendous advantage because they already know the language, culture, local needs and opportunities. You can have an exciting part in this life-changing fulfillment of the Great Commission!
  2. SGA equips the church by preparing faithful pastors, teachers, youth leaders, and children’s workers for a lifetime in ministry. SGA sponsors evangelical seminaries in Ukraine, Russia, Belarus, and Kazakhstan.
  3. SGA helps the forgotten of Russia, the former Soviet Union, the countries of Eastern Europe, and Central Asia by caring for the physical needs of the poor, distressed, and dispirited. Their ministries not only provide vital life essentials, they also help open the door for missionary pastors and other church workers to share the life-changing Gospel of Jesus Christ.
  4. SGA funds special projects that help the local church reach their community for Christ, such as Orphans Reborn, Camping Ministry, the Crisis Evangelism Fund, Immanuel’s Child, Compassion Ministry, Youth Ministry, and Reach Russia Now.
To learn more about SGA, click HERE.

Fall Fest will be a morning to worship God and celebrate His goodness as well as support local, regional and international ministry efforts. All funds raised from our Fall Fest offering will be given to the Northwest Conference and Slavic Gospel Association. An All-Church Potluck will follow the Worship Service. Please bring a dish or two to share with our special guest and each other.

Todd & Andria Ellingson Coming to RECC!

RECC is excited to welcome missionaries Todd & Andria Ellingson to our Worship Service this Sunday, October 21, at 10:15am. The Ellingsons will share about their ministry through City of Joy Rwanda. They will also have items made by Rwandan artisans for sale in the lobby following the morning Worship Service. All proceeds will help support the ministry of City of Joy Rwanda.
It's Shoebox Time!

For the past 25 years, Operation Christmas Child, a ministry of Samaritan's Purse, has been collecting shoeboxes filled with gifts and delivering them to children in need around the world. Each box is an opportunity for a boy or girl to experience the love of God in a tangible way and hear the Gospel.

Many boys and girls who receive shoeboxes also enroll in a follow-up discipleship program, The Greatest Journey, were they learn to follow Christ and share Him with others. It all starts with a simple gift.

Before you start packing your shoebox, review this checklist:

  • Find a standard-size shoebox (no boot boxes).
  • Fill it with a "wow" toy and other gifts.
  • Pray for the child who will receive your shoebox. Include a note and a photo.
  • Include $5 toward shipping fees.
  • Bring your shoebox to RECC by November 18!

Wondering What to Pack? Here are some suggestions:

  • "Wow" item: soccer ball with pump, doll, stuffed animal, musical instrument, shoes
  • Toys: toy cars, jump ropes, yo-yos, toys that light up and make noise (with extra batteries)
  • Accessories: socks, hats, sunglasses, hair clips, jewelry and watches, flashlights (with extra batteries)
  • School Supplies: pens, pencils and sharpeners, crayons and markers, notebooks and paper, coloring books and picture books, solar calculators
  • Non-Liquid Hygiene Items: toothbrushes, bar soap, washcloths, combs
  • A Personal Note: a message to the child, a picture of yourself, your family, or your group (If you include your name and address, the child may be able to write back).

DO NOT INCLUDE: candy, toothpaste, gum, used or damaged items, war-related items, seeds, food, liquids, lotions, medications, vitamins, breakable items, glass containers, aerosol cans

Thank you for partnering with us to support this vital ministry! For more information, contact Kathy Brandt.

Date NightWhere would you rank dating on the priority scale in your marriage? If you’re like most people, it probably falls somewhere underneath job, and money, and kids, and in-laws, and housework, and a bunch of other things I’m probably forgetting. But dating your spouse is so important, and we can’t overlook it.
That’s exactly why we’re offering a complimentary date night experience to any interested married couple. All you’ve got to do is stop by the church on Friday, October 26, after 5:30pm to pick up a date night kit, complete with instructions for what to do and what to talk about. We care so much about this that we’re even providing complementary childcare! Just drop your kids off when you pick up the date night kit. We can’t wait to see you then!
