Dear folks,

Please join one or two of the following invites or just enjoy the Himmelsbach news:

This Saturday, 3th of November:
Orakel: Museum Night at Arti et Amicitiae, Rokin 112 Amsterdam
ORAKEL is a 7-day manifestation through the entire building of Arti et Amicitiae, which begins with a rush during the Amsterdam Museum Night. The 7th edition originated from the urgent need to revise our visions on the interrelation between man, nature and non-human animals. Translated and presented from the visual arts in combination with technology, (empirical) science and contemporary alchemy. The oracles are more than predictors of the future: they not only respond to the tilt in thinking, but also realize the social changes themselves.

Exhibition till 2th of December
Één, Museum De Domijnen, Sittard
After 5 years of carving and guerrilla glueing Im happy and grateful to announce that the first set of printed portraits of ‘A Paper monument for the paperless’ is  purchased as a installation and included in the public collection of Museum de Domijnen in Sittard.
In the exhibition Één (One) you find the paper monument in a inspiring social engaged collection among works from the Yes men, Edgar Heap of Birds and herman de vries. Curated by Roel Arkesteijn.

News, gossip and interesting stuff:
Pilot in art-activism
Together with social art platform Framer Framed and Nathalie Roos from the Amsterdamse Hogeschool voor de Kunsten we develop a class in art activism, for high schools, with the pilot at Damstede in Amsterdam Noord: merging social studies and art class. It started with an inspiration lesson about detournement and my art practice. Today the students pitch plans for social interventions, trying to refresh their perspectives on social issues.

Arko, Himmelsbach research center on offered existence and dilettantism
Some weeks ago I threw away a airplane ticket to Tunisia and cancelled my participation in a artist gathering and symposium. I completely replanned my time and now I'm rebuilding my ship The Arko; Himmelsbach research center on off-grid existence and dilettantism.
Replacing the complete upper part of ship, first lifting the roof and build a new skeleton under it.
The old moldy wooden construction is on the end of its life, it will make place for new sandwich panels, better insulation, creating more space and a prettier appearance.
Its a crazy job, comparable with making the monument for okay people. Building for the sake of building.

Thank you and hope to see you Saturday!
Kindest regards,

Domenique Himmelsbach de Vries
